My engine light was on, I took it to Champion and they put it on their machine for $150 bucks, told me the Active shutter system was shorted out and could be fixed for about $1100 bucks. I drove the truck for probably 2 years with the light on, took it to LaFontain for an oil change. Told the Service rep about the engine light and he said that diagnosis just sounded wrong. They checked it out and found a loose wire in the wire harness, All fixed for a fraction of price.

Poor Customer Service and Business Practices

I had been a long standing customer of over 15 years and purchased my first brand new vehicle from Champion in Lansing over 15 years ago. Throughout the years I have bought vehicles, had my vehicle serviced in both the body shop and service department. I have had issues with both areas and now most recent the sales area. But I kept my loyalty and continued to come to this place despite the things that have happened. I was in the market to upgrade my Jeep Grand Cherokee and this was my second visit to the dealership over the past few months and will be my last. I wanted a particular vehicle and this location did not have but the vehicle was at the Brighton location. I was immediately shut down saying they can’t transfer the vehicle, so I planned on visiting the Brighton location later that day until I was then told they could have it transferred (which I knew was possible). After running the numbers the add ons which raised the price thousands of dollars and an enormous down payment I declined the offer to purchase. I asked if there was any wiggle room to get me to the payment/amount I was looking at because the extras which included cleaning/detailing the vehicle etc added on was not anything I have seen before and I thought was ridiculous to push on to the buyer and I’ve never seen that before. for it to be thousands was baffling. The representative I worked with named Bailey Hartner didn’t seem to eager to work with me in helping me find my dream car and gave some bs about it being a great deal and left it at that. Never offered to lookout for a vehicle with everything I wanted and in my price range to keep in touch (anything to retain my business). Needless to say I found the exact vehicle elsewhere (days later) went through the same finance company The vehicle had less miles, cost less and I paid half of the down payment champion requested. Also those “extra costs” were not added onto the price either! I will mention that the vehicle I wanted to purchase through champion is still in their inventory and the price has dropped $2k in the last couple of weeks. Too bad you lost a sale and a long time customer because your poor customer service and rip off business practices!!!

If you enjoy being frustrated and not having your concerns addressed when you deal with the service department. The reviews of others echo this consistent pattern. In general conversation about cars with friends it was also mentioned by others they have very poor experiences with them. Avoid at all cost. I drive out of my way across the city to another dealership.

Terrible Service after the Sale

My daughter purchased her first vehicle from Champion in July 2022 .. The check engine light came on, so we made an appointment for service a week ago. We dropped the car off at noon, and at 3:30 still had not heard anything. I called and left a voicemail for a status on the vehicle, never heard back. I called back at 5:20, only to be told it had not been looked at yet and would not be looked at until tomorrow and I should hear back by noon! I have an appointment for service, and it takes 24 hours to look at the vehicle???? When questioning how this could happen, I was directed to the Service Manager Claude. That is where a lousy experience got even worse! I have NEVER been spoken to by a service professional like this before. Claude was extremely rude and aggressive with me. He would barely let me speak or ask any questions to the absurd story he was trying to spin. He kept telling me I was interrupting him as if he wanted me to shut up and listen without speaking. Claude seems confused about his role at Champion. I expect a service “manager” to be helpful to the customer, be honest and admit a mistake happened, and calmly resolve the issue. Apparently, my expectations were too high, at least for Claude. I asked if we have opted to wait in the lobby until her vehicle was done would we still be sitting there, Claude responded “I don’t know”. When I expressed concern about not being able to trust her vehicle to be looked at or bringing it back for service in the future, he told me not to bring my vehicle back because it was a hassle for him and me. I asked if I could speak to his manager\supervisor, he told me he doesn’t report to anyone. He suggested we pick up the vehicle that night, which we did. It seems like repeat customer business is not a priority at this dealership. Needless to say, we will NOT be bringing any vehicle here for service again, nor will we be purchasing any more vehicles from this dealership. Very disappointed in the customer service , and the behavior of Claude is unacceptable! It was a very upsetting experience for a young girl bringing her car in for service for the first time. Not the level of service I am used to!!

Couldn’t leave a 0 or I would have!

Couldn’t leave a 0 or I would have!! Had some warranty work done on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler. Needed the auxiliary battery replaced. It’s been a bit since the service was done, while I was spraying off the Jeep I noticed a push in rivet hanging out of the right front wheel well. So I pushed it back in which it didn’t stay. Then I check the other 3 wheel wells and the rivets are not the same as the front right. So they took off the plastic on front right but didn’t replace it back to factory rivets. Didn’t bother to tell me they did this either. Needless to say I’m a little pissed off and will NEVER have service work done at Champion again!!

Dealer response

Jeff, we're so disappointed that you didn't feel we lived up to our standard of excellence. That isn't how we strive to operate and if you're willing we'd like to discuss this further with you. Jeff Freese, our Service Manager will contact you shortly. We'd appreciate the chance to help regain your trust and look forward to speaking soon.

So I went in after only having my vehicle for less than a week with a concern on my vehicle that the air pressure was not reading and I was informed by the sales guy Todd Greene that he would not help me at all even tho at the time of sales he told me theirs nothing wrong with the Jeep. And he told me to ignore it and that he was not informed anything was wrong with the sensors so to u all I have to say is that is poor sales men ship and I will not ever buy another vehicle from u. Service dept is great tho and very polite. And thanks to discount for my new sensors.
