Chris HERRIN sold a vehicle stating it was from a trusted
Chris HERRIN sold a vehicle stating it was from a trusted mechanic that has worked at HYAUNDI alongside him for over 6 years. The vehicle was at about 86,000 miles and body was wise in great condition- Chris HERRIN stated he’d check in with the mechanic who just traded the vehicle in to make sure there weren’t any problems with it (as Chris was a family friend/his family were family friends for 15plus years). He stated if there were any problems he’d be more than willing to help— When the first problem arose within days (we brought the vehicle in)— they wouldn’t fix it— Chris HERRIN said if anything else goes on he has a friend that fixed vehicles for cheap and will send our vehicle there— Before the 30 day mark the vehicle didn’t start. In the 6 months I had the vehicle- the same problem of the vehicle not starting was consistent— Over $6,000 later— and only having the vehicle in my position for a total of 42 days (not in a row) over the course of 6 months (due to it being in the shop— over and over again for the same problems of not starting and then another would arise)— No help from Chris HERRIN — when we came across the first problem to the end- his statement was- the car was as is- and it’s older (2012)- When brought up his statements of a promise this vehicle came from a trusted source as a trade in and the this person trades in all of the time— he denied saying that and said the mechanic no longer works there. There was NO assistance and never stated to bring the vehicle into the smart Kia shop or an apology. He stated, “It’s not my fault the car isn’t in your possession- or that it’s at a shop.” Once I got the vehicle started again- $6000 in debt from repairs) from an over $11,000 purchase - so about $14,000 with tax)- The vehicle had more problems After speaking to higher authority at HYAUNDI - they were not willing to help at all- until speaking with corporate- and even then they agreed to fix the air conditioning (that we made them put in the contact since it was winter and the air wasn’t coming out super cold)— which ended up being an over $2000 fix (that I had to fight to get them to follow through with after receiving a call stating they wouldn’t pay)— AND a hole in the exhaust- they didn’t pay for that either so over $100 more in debt to the vehicle— I pick the vehicle up from them — only to still hear the exhaust noise I call them- and bring it back Monday- to where they stated they wouldn’t pay for it (there was a loose nug between that keeps the engine from moving) and the mechanic was awesome to even search for that— because he knew how difficult HYAUNDI had been with our car and all the money we’d put into it ((the alignment light came on TOO!) which is over $2000 to fix— Corporate said they’d meet with us and never did and had the manager call and say they aren’t meeting and they will fix the engine nug and that we should be happy their even doing that and used the $2000 air conditioning fix over my head— that they put that money into my vehicle too ((which—again— was stated in the contract so it wasn’t part of all the other stuff that went wrong) This vehicle needed over $10,000 in repairs at the end of it all. And..again- through it all from the first repair it needed days into owning the vehicle- to 20 days in to when the vehicle stopped starting- there was NO help from CHRIS HERRIN and didn’t apologize once. Wouldn’t give us something else or even take initiative to stand up and admit this vehicle wasn’t from a mechanic that was trusted who worked there— Upon speaking to others- this vehicle secretly had a lot of problems and the owner was aware- Upon searching records of the vehicle we found some of the same issues happening and it was known—-I write this review only for the purpose of letting those out there know that Chris may play the friend card— but selling the vehicle is his only care. & he will not assist. I don’t want others to go through this-

Hi there, we are so sorry to hear this. We think you may have meant to leave this for Smart Hyundai, not Kia as we don't recognize this situation. However, while we certainly don’t want to sell a car that isn’t working great, that sometimes with higher mileage and older used cars this can be a risk and it is why we offer extended service contract coverages. Unfortunately if there is no manufacturer warranty and no extended service contract coverage then that responsibility is going to fall back to the owner of the vehicle and while that can be costly and frustrating, its also a great reason to take advantage of the service contracts available.

We just PCSd be so to the states and needed to buy a car right away. Austin reached out to us and helped us buy the perfect car. There was no trying to sway us or upgrade us! Good Experience
Overall it was a good experience buying my CRV from them. I traveled from the CR area and they had the vehicle ready on time which was nice. I have bought several vehicles over the years and this was definitely a better experience than I've had with McGrath. I would consider buying from them again.

Wonderful experience.
I won't buy another car from another dealship. Austin Baker was amazing! None of the sales people were pushy in any way. Austin took his time, let us decide, didn't try to oversell us, and was basically a gentleman when dealing with us. I would also like to give a HUGE thank you to Angela! My wife thought she left something personal and priceless to our family in the car that we traded. Angela stopped what she was doing and went to help my wife see if it was in the car. It wasn't in the car, but we did find it. Everyone we dealt with was nothing short of amazing. The Smart dealerships are where it's at. I won't use another dealership.

Excellent Salesperson and Dealership
We had a very pleasant experience while buying our new KIA Niro. Our salesperson, Kenyatta, was a delight to work with. There was no pressure and she answered, or found answers, for all of our questions. I would recommend her highly. Everyone we spoke with were as courteous and helpful as they could be. We love our new KIA!

Happy with sales person not service department
I had a very good salesperson Dale Smith, helpful as much as he could. Purchase 2023 KIA K5 on February 19, 2023 tire blow out on March 27, 2023. The sencer light was ripped apart from the blowout tire. I was told that because of the blown out tire they are not responsible for fixing the sensor. Not happy that I have purchased a brand new car a 2023 KIA and have pay for repairs. Sensor that should be cover under the warranty.

Sally, we are sorry that you are going through this and understand your frustration. Unfortunately the manufacturers warranty does not cover wear items or physical damage items. In this case the wear item is the tire and the damage caused to the tire created the damage to your rims. What would likely cover this though is your physical damage insurance. We would advise you check with your insurance agent or insurance company to see if you can get the physical damage covered. We hope this may help.
Nice car dealer
I called Smart Kia in Davenport Iowa late Friday afternoon and spoke to Austin about a car shown on their internet sight. He said they would hold a car for me Saturday morning till I could get there. The car was exactly as described, and they offered me a fair trade in value for my car, the purchase went very smoothly and I would recommend the dealership to anyone. Thanks Austin and Smart Kia.
