Worst buying experience ever and I have purchased over 25 cars in my life. Owner was a smart xxx as I am trying to complete deal. Never go here!

Bought 2021 jeep wrangler brand new and had uncontrollable shaking when going over bump in year 1. 4 years later and 12 visits during warranty and no fix. Miraculously the problem was found 2000 miles above warranty. They now want to charge me for work and Chrysler won’t help either.

I had a great experience buying a new Jeep Grand Cherokee

I had a great experience buying a new Jeep Grand Cherokee L at Barnett Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of White Bear Lake. I found the Jeep I wanted online, contacted them and came to look at it. I worked with Nick and he was great to deal with. What I liked about Barnett is that their online list price was legitimate. I had contacted a few other places prior to Barnett and they kept adding on fees for this or that. One place wanted $400 to install a module so your brake light would flash, another said their online price included discounts for being a current lease holder and and first responder so I would need to add a couple thousand dollars to their list price. But Barnett didn't do that, they sold it to me for the price listed and gave me a reasonable trade in offer for my current Jeep. I did pay cash so I can't comment on financing but the paperwork was quick and efficient, overall great experience all around. It feels like an honest environment where they are straight shooters and not trying take advantage of anyone.

The sales manager online was very nice and informative.

The sales manager online was very nice and informative. However, as soon as I walked into the dealership, I did not get a hello at all. When a salesman came to talk to me, the first thing he asked was if I was doing any trade-ins and how much I was planning for the down payment. This caught me by surprise as we had not even seen the car yet. He pulled the car up, and no fog lights were on. I asked him if we could turn on the fog lights, and he stated, "you probably know more than me." Not sure what that means. As soon as we got into the car, and going about 40, you could feel the car shake when applying the brake. At 70mph, the whole vehicle shakes, and there's a very loud noise. He admitted that he could feel the shake from the back seat. However, once we got to the dealership, he went inside to grab me a copy of the "inspection" report and stated there was no vibration. I asked him if he felt the vibration, and he stated yes. However, he went on to state that because I slammed on the brakes, that is where the vibration came from. He accused me on three other occasions of slamming on the brake, which I did not. I offered to have him test drive the car while I went with him. He declined and referred back to the inspection report. The next day, I got a call from the sales manager stating that they took the car in because of the shake. I thought there was no shake, according to your salesman, why the need to take the vehicle in? IT WAS THE WORST DEALERSHIP ever. Avoid and take your money somewhere else. Very confrontational, accusations, and rude staff.

Recently I brought my older vehicle in for a problem

Recently I brought my older vehicle in for a problem related to the anti skid system (Usually engages for icy roads) engaging while on a dry hot summer freeway. If I turn the vehicle off and back on, the problem goes away. This led me to request that the service department check sensors and potentially software on my 2011 vehicle. The resultant response was "Your fluids are leaking and until that problem is fixed we cannot assist in locating the issue." Every car over 20k miles has leaking fluids, cracked hoses and dried seals leaking fluids. Are they saying that because my vehicle is over 10 years old, they don't want to work on it? There is a $200 fee just to diagnose the problem. I agreed to the fee assuming I would get excellent knowledge, especially on the specialty electronics and software that is hard to find with mechanics that are not dealership trained. Instead I was forced to go to another mechanic that specializes in sensors and electronics on vehicles to find the solution to the problem. If they didn't want to work on my older vehicle, why didn't they save me the $200 diagnostic fee? Are they deliberately trying to take as much money as they can from me? Are they deliberately charging extra because my vehicle is over 10 years old? Needless to say, I will not be patronizing this dealership again. If you have an older vehicle, I advise not patronizing the dealership service department either. The sad part was, they were extremely friendly, empathetic, and very professional. They backed up their employee diagnostic decisions which is great for working there, not so great for the customers.

This review is ZERO stars, which reflects the most

This review is ZERO stars, which reflects the most unethical and suspect behavior I’ve ever seen from a Car Dealer and Service Department. My Uncle bought a 2014 Jeep Wrangler in 2014, brand new off the lot, and purchased the extended warranty. He was an elderly man, who did not drive more than 50 miles per week. When he did in August unexpectedly, he only had 12,800 miles on it. I inherited the jeep and found that the ABS light was going on suddenly and brought it in for service. Was informed there were over $4,000 worth of repairs; including new breaks and extensive engine repairs) and that the warranty couldn’t be used because my uncle passed away; cancelling the warranty. When I asked to talk to a manager, they refused. Upon picking up the vehicle, it now sounds like there is water swimming every time I start it, and the engine is barely starting. I highly recommend you not purchase anything of service anything through these crooks.

Just left after picking up Pacifica with a warranty

Just left after picking up Pacifica with a warranty claim. We had some back and forth with the service manager Dan Norton. He was very condescending and accusatory. There was no de-escalation on his part, even though I attempted more than once to settle the situation down. He was still yelling at us as we walked out! I actually called his cell phone and apologized for how we parted. But, I can't even give the dealership a rating of 1-star (even though I had to to post this) based on how he treated us. I believe the service writer and the mechanic were very customer friendly. My apologies to them. But, the Barnett's need to send Dan to some training in de-escalation. In my profession escalating things like Dan did would result in an Internal Affairs Investigation, if you get my drift. I offered a suggestion for Dan to verify the problem was with a tire(s), but he so worked up he refused and told us he never wanted to see us again. Nice customer service there. Beware when dealing with Barnett Chrysler, and specifically Service Manager Dan Norton.

Dealer response

This vehicle was brought to us with the customer complaining of a noise. Our technician found that tires had been compromised because the vehicle had been driven with wheels out of alignment. When the alignment was corrected, the noise remained, due to the damaged tires. The vehicle was then taken to another service facility, which diagnosed the noise as faulty wheel bearings, erroneously relying on a technical service bulletin that, in fact, did not apply to this vehicle. Nonetheless, at the customer’s insistence, we replaced wheel bearings. The noise remained. Again we cited the damaged tires and here is where communication broke down. After 12 months of ownership, tires are not warranted by the automobile manufacturer and when this was explained to our customer, she became angry and vulgar. With respect to rudeness, we are happy to provide our customer with a copy of the recording of that phone call as a reminder of just how the communication broke down.

Consumer response

Sure, but when Dan asked us to go into his office he aggressively began accosting and accusing us and it was apparent he just wanted to throw gas on the fire. I tried to calm things down a couple times when wanted to play his recording on the phone call, but he repeatedly kept saying “you don’t trust me!!” but he wouldn’t let up so we realized it was futile to be his captive and as we left he followed us out into the service area yelling at us. It was obvious he just intended to berate us. He yelled to us “never come back.” There was a couple other customers present who were astounded at his behavior and told us so. Other comments posted here and elsewhere will back up our experience at Barnett Chrysler. We have had 4 Chrysler Mimi vans and will buy others going forward. Just never at Barnett again. There are other dealers close by, but we’ve always felt a need to give local businesses our patronage. Any way you look at this, Dan could have started things completely differently than he did when we started out in his office. As I posted before, I called him and apologized for my side of the street. His comment above just keeps the fire burning. He could have simply posted his apologies as I had. As we left I asked dan if they could swap wheels and tires with another car to test and verify 100% that it is a tire issue and Dan angrily refused- this is when he told us never come back. Dan has my information. He can send me the bill for the bearings. I’m not trying to scam them but they have lost a customer and other people should beware. Some de- escalation trading would go a long way.

Service dept….

Service dept…. Where do I start after taking my car to two other repair shops I was told that the suspension needed to be taken to the dealer to be fixed because of experience with the system service. There was good until I came back with a problem after they had done the diagnostic for the suspension Granted my car does have some damage done to it in an accident over the winter that is being fixed I decided to just speak with the service manager just to get to the point quicker about my issue when my car was brought in one of the headlamps worked perfectly one headlight bulb did not work. I knew this , when I was driving home from work that same day after having my diagnostic done, my headlamp no longer worked I expressed his concern to the service manager, and he completely blamed me immediately and told me that in his exact words that my car was effed up and it’s my fault Spoke to me in the very callous manner as if I was a lower life or would you probably may have thought me being a black man with dreadlocks after several minutes of going back-and-forth he actually offered to replace the bulb that was in the headlamp that I said worked. I said OK sat down in my car. He came back within 10 minutes and said no he’s not doing anything because it cost $250 for a bulb. I know for a fact after looking on the Mopar website that the bulbs do not cost 250 but if you do come to Barnett or any jeep dealership, they have a mark up on their parts on low power parts so it’s gonna cost you more. I knew that walking in the door. I also knew how expensive it would be to get my car fixed. Also had planned to get some thing finance so that I can get my car fixed at the dealership that is done correctly I have never in my life been treated by a repair shop like this even by a manager I’ve been things have happened but they made an attempt to fix it . He made no attempt. He basically told me F you and get out. Now I’m a find a way to get my car fixed somewhere else at whatever price you may be because I was treated like a piece of crap by a man who I have no idea who is don’t even know his name. I feel like I would’ve actually still gotten it fixed if he would’ve gave me the ball because they would’ve showed an effort to make right or wrong that I believe they had accidentally done. I told him multiple times that I didn’t believe anyone had done anything on purpose or something it happened maybe on accident anything can happen.I just asked to know what the new problem was I can’t even drive my car at night.
