Terrible bucking when in electric mode.
Terrible bucking when in electric mode. The car has come to a stop twice on a highway after braking. The entire electric system tied into the battery is faulty. We have brought it back to BMW twice and it still doesn’t work properly. Every time the car is in electric mode I feel like I’m driving a manual.- Purchased a Used car

Good before 55K miles Trade it after warranty ends
I bought my 2017 BMW X5 Edrive ( in VA) with 17K miles on it. I'll start with the good: I LOVE the comfortability of the ride, I had a brown interior total package (heated steering wheel, heated front/back, etc.). I will say that the plug in IS NOT worth it. You get about 15 miles total which wasn't really worth my time but- Purchased a Used car

Ours was a lemon
Our 2018 BMW hybrid ended up dead on the road just after 60,000 miles. It was just outside of warranty and now requires repairs that only a dealership can perform an expensive over $18,000. They are so familiar with the problems. this car has the are only offering 50% of its value in trade. This car has terminated our long-standing- Purchased a Used car

Devastated
My 2018 BMW X5 40e has 40,000 miles on it but the warranty expired 3 months ago. The drive train malfunction light came on and warned me not to turn off the car because it may not restart. I had it towed at my expense to the dealership. They called to tell me it will be $2,300 just to diagnose the problem since there is a- Purchased a Used car

A service nightmare, stay away!
I purchased the X5 40e and it was nothing but headaches. Check engine lights 4 different times, 5 different airbag lights, suspension went down in the back, in 30k miles it literally ate 3 sets of tires. Yes, 3 sets (need changed every 10-12k miles). Service took on average 10 days as BMW dealers are scared to work on edrive- Purchased a New car

I should have researched the 2018 X5 EDrive
I Was expecting better mileage than my previous 2013 X5 Diesel. Electric mode is quickly drained going short distances and far from the advertised 52 mpg. Considering the difference in cost and some functionality, the X5 Diesel is a better option. The engine light has come on 4X’s after less than 4000 miles, consequently- Purchased a New car

DO NOT BUY THIS VEHICLE!!
BMW has simply not figured out the hybrid technology. I currently own 2 BMW’s and have owned 4 or 5 over the years and this is the only one I’ve ever had any trouble with. Over 8 months of ownership it was in the shop more than my garage. I literally put more miles on their loaner cars and rental cars than my own vehicle. Far- Purchased a New car

The eDrive version is awesome
40e doesn't cost that much more than the 6 cylinder and I am averaging 45mpg. Nice federal tax rebate and I get 800 miles on a tank of gas. Plus parking spots reserved for charging are generally primo and available. This car is the same 0-60 as the 6cyl, but smoother and quicker off the line. I just use a standard outlet in- Purchased a New car

Fun car to drive. Comfortable for long distances.
I commute through Boston round trip to New Hampshire and this car has helped keep me safe and comfortable with some of the most daredevil drivers on the road. The visibility is excellent and the emergency braking has saved me when abrupt lane changers dive in front of a line of cars going 70 in the tunnel. The car is fun,- Purchased a New car
