Best 4dr passenger car ever.

I've owned my 2017 Volt Premier with adaptive cruise control for 13 months. 21,100 miles of which 11,100 have been EV. 81 mpg overall. EV miles are daily metro Chicago commute and around town errands. Non-EV miles are all long distance road trips to northern WI (330 miles), upper Michigan (400 miles) and Tennessee (>500 miles). Pure EVs like the far more expensive and reportedly less reliable Tesla can't do what the Volt does, even in fair weather but especially in the northern winters that invariably take a toll on EV range. The Volt tracks solid as a rock, handles with aplomb, has jack rabbit acceleration from dead stop, great 2 lane highway passing ability, spacious front interior cabin, can haul a ton with back seats folded down, and front heated leather seats are very comfortable. Did I mention it is quiet? Driver and passenger can converse at speed using whispers. Loaded with safety features plus adaptive cruise control and lane keeping make the car semi-autonomous and tireless to drive 400-500 miles on one day road trips. I've owned the original 2 seat Honda Insight hybrid (CVT; 2001), original Gen 1 Prius (a 2002), Gen 2 Prius (2004), and a Gen 1(b) Volt (2013) together with a host of gasoline-powered passenger cars (Chrysler/Mercury), vans (Chevy), AWD minivans (Astro and Venture) and compact SUV (2015 Subaru Forester). The 2017 Volt is easily my best vehicle. My 220v garage-situated charger takes advantage of Com Ed's RRTP wholesale pricing plan with very low wee hour rates so my EV travel "fuel"costs no more than 2.5 ? per mile. Moreover, no range anxiety or charging delays on road trips that have a 400 mile non-stop range on a full tank (8.9 gal) and a full charge. 5th seating position in middle of rear seat is only for baby/toddler safety seats and/or for pre-teens. Tall-torsoed folks don't have much head clearance if seated in the rear. No repair issues. Virtually no maintenance. One no-cost preventive recall re: cabling fix. Sophisticated nav, expressway traffic conditions, high quality sound system, Bluetooth, weather, and movie availability display on large, easy-to-use multi-function display.

Great car

The car is very comfortable. We had a 600 mile drive from where we purchased it, so had a good opportunity to test that. It is very stylish and sporty looking. It's easy to charge and to see how mileage is left on the available charge.

Very efficient only used 2 gallons first month

Overall the car is great on being efficient, I have only used 2 gallons in first month. I wish cloth seats were more comfortable and wish the cruise control worked all the time (intermittent issue), there is an issue with a brake sensor - waiting for parts to come in.

A really complete car, a joy to drive and own.

I buy about $10/mo of gasoline and with solar panels no other fuel charge for this and another electric. My second Volt, this one is so refined and with a much easier to use interface. Easily get 50+ electric miles and then 40+ on regular gas. I real pleasure to drive.

Frist EV

Only have had the car for a couple of weeks and so far its been great. Everything I expected. Time will tell on reliability and driving in snow. Over 200 miles and only 1 gal of gas.

Love my 2017 Volt

Have owned this car for about a month. No gas purchased yet. Haven't used anything but electric except for first day. Smooth ride. Electronics are excellent. Flawless transfer from electric to gas and back. Transmission is seamless. Only thing I would change is front seat is a bit narrow with the plastic left support prominent when you get in and out.

great value

I get a lot of compliments about what a pretty car my new volt is, I feel I'm doing my part now in lowering the carbon footprint and it's nice that I haven't been to a gas station yet and I have 700 miles on the car.

Most complicated car that I've owned

After two weeks this has lived up to the various reviews and official benchmarks (close to pure electric miles - 50-60 and gas mileage on freeway with some A/C driving mostly 65-70 mph got an indicated 42.6 mpg). We got the Premium version with just about all of the factory options. We are now getting used to keyless, all the safety features and switching between electric and gas). Charging at 8 amps takes the advertised 19 hours from empty and we are thinking about 240 Volt charger). Even in Oregon, chargin en route is difficult, so it is gas on the freeway, electric in town. Passing is easy and the seats are comfortable. The steering wheel is adjustable. Short people like the back seat, but we have not tried to fit a tall person yet. A reasonable amount of cargo fits in the back, but the hatch is hard to close. The hood is difficult to open and we are surprised that you can't get power seats. So mostly favorable with a few negatives.

Great Plug in hybrid

I commute 54 miles each day, all EV miles. Love the car for commuting. It accelerates quickly and rides smooth and quiet. The regen paddle break is also great to have. Have only engaged the disc breaks twice in 5K miles. Used the IEC for 13% of the miles, gets ~50 mpg but it is a boring car using the IEC. It performs much better as an EV.

Extended range on electric power!

The car was purchased to do errands under 50 miles and, due to the extended battery capabilities, I have yet to put any gas into the car! The dashboard reads 250+ mpg so far. Because it is a plug in hybrid, my "range anxiety" is non existent. I am impressed with it's advanced technology and driving dynamics.
