The Dodge Hornet is a five-seat compact SUV that focuses on performance, with a choice of a conventional gasoline engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The GT gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 268 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque, while the R/T plug-in hybrid combines a turbocharged 1.3-liter gas four-cylinder with an electric motor for a total of 288 hp and 383 pounds-feet of torque. The R/T’s 15.5-kilowatt-hour battery enables it to travel up to an EPA-estimated 33 miles on just electric power. The Hornet shares its platform with the Alfa Romeo Tonale, also from Dodge’s parent company Stellantis. Hornet competitors include the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-50, as well as the Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid.
