Safe, reliable, and affordable SUV
Meets all the requirements we were looking for in an SUV, and even compared well to larger models on the market.

Easiest car to drive
This car is the first car I've purchased on my own. Obviously it isn't my dream car, but it definitely has all of the bells and whistles I was looking for. The newer models have a better looking exterior design in my opinion, but I do plan to add modifications to it to spice it up a bit. As far as performance goes, it's a very easy car to drive. I would've liked a larger motor, but I knew I wasn't gonna get that in a midsize SUV. I haven't owned the vehicle long enough to say much about reliability, but it's definitely more reliable than my old car (which isn't saying a whole lot), but the car fax also shows it's pretty reliable as well. It's very spacious on the interior. I love the XLT features such as the upgraded entertainment system and the leather seats. Overall, great car so far.

Explorer-New Generation SUV
We have had previous Explorer, Expedition and Excursion Fords. We also owned Land Rover Discoverys. The new-to-us 2013 Ford Explorer Limited was a purchase necessitated by the demise of our tow car (Suzuki Grand Vitara Limited) which we towed behind a class A diesel RV. We had to replace the Suzuki on short notice in Chicago on the way to a three week travel trip to IL, IN. OH, KY, TN, and MO. I looked for a flat-towable SUV which would also be our second car drivable in mountain snow and ice at 9400 foot altitude. This one is a whole different animal than the 2007 Explorer with body-on-frame. It has all the options our Mercedes ML 350 has and more. The 6 Cylinder is adequate, not overpowering. It gets about 20-21 mpg in the mountains and 24-25 on the flats. It uses regular gas and is larger than the Suzuki. The space is better for 5-7 passengers and the views are better. Legroom is better and headroom/entry is aided by the automatic retracting and tilting steering wheel & seat movement. The 20" wheels give a smoother ride and independent suspension limits bumps. It will tow 5,000# and carry the canoe on the roof rack we will add. It flat tows in neutral without any mechanical changes. Now if only it weren't BLACK!

Great all around SUV
This car met all my needs and then some. Quiet inside with roomy legroom. The V6 standard motor pulls my boat with ease. The car has too many bells and whistles for the average user.

Awesome choice in the midsize SUV class
I love the interior layout, design, level of comfort, technology features & smooth ride. The exterior styling is less bulky than the three similar GM models & more robust than the comparable Nissan model.

Great value for a SUV
I have never really looked into owning an Explorer until I needed a vehicle to accommodate my growing family. My Explorer came with captain seating throughout which was very important to me. It has made it very simple for my smaller kids to manage getting in and out off the car on their own. They now have elbow and leg room to grow into. There is plenty of room for myself as well, even with a rear facing car seat behind my drivers seat, and I'm 6'1. I have an XLT and love all the amenities. To be so roomy inside you would think the vehicle would be larger, but it's not much bigger than the crossover I traded up from. The gas mileage is good too. I average about 21 mpg. I drive a lot of highway miles with my daily commute. The ride is very comfortable and smooth. This is a great family vehicle!
