It is the most reliable car I have ever owned
Only problems I have had is the AC compressor. It went out at about 82K miles, (6 seasons of Oklahoma heat). I had brakes replaced at 85K and ended up having the master cylinder and power booster replaced also after the brakes started grabbing and finally locked up on me. (This happened after the brake job and master cylinder was replaced. ) I kind ofhave the idea the mechanic screwed up when he replaced the master cylinder. So I'm not sure it needed the power booster.

MOST COMFORTABLE - NO CENTER SHIFT GEAR
I RESEARCHED OVER AND OVER WANTING A SMALL SUV (HATING) THE NEWER CARS WITH A CENTER SHIFT GEAR UTILIZING THE ENTIRE AREA BETWEEN THE SEATS. MY CR-V HAS THE SHIFT ON THE DASH WHICH I LOVE AND A RETRACTABLE TABLE/CUP HOLDER BETWEEN THE SEATS. I HOPE HONDA ((NEVER)) CHANGES THEIR SHIFT GEAR LOCATION. THE SEATS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE EXCEPT THEY COULD BE A LITTLE LONGER TO BE BEHIND THE KNEES. STORAGE IS SUPERB. MISS THE SYSTEM AS MY CHRYSLER OF HAVING BUILT IN DIRECTION/TEMPERTURE/MILAGE TIL EMPTY. OVERALL THIS IS THE FISRT SUV THAT NOT ONLY FITS MY NEEDS 99% BUT ALSO RELIABLE, NICE RIDE, GOOD ON GAS AND HOPEFULLY LASTS ME A LONG TIME. HONDA'S FOR AN 2004 ARE EASILY RUNNING 80,00 MILES TO OVER 130,000 AND I FOUND MY IMMACULATE CONDITION CR-V UNDER 57,000 MILES...AGAIN LOVE IT.

Super long-term value
Still can't believe how this vehicle maintained it's resale value after six years! I grew to really like the body-style but didn't really like it at first.

Overall Good
I owned an 2002 manual transmission CRV for 8 years. I averaged 25mpg with a combination of city & Hwy driving, which I was happy with. On a big hill it would putt-putt along, but otherwise the power was adequate. LOVE the internal cargo space. Love that it drives with a solid feel of a Honda. Cons: The actuator in the drivers door went out at 60k, so the remote entry no longer worked. Apparently this is common. The compressor blew at 85k, a $1500 repair. This seems to be a common flaw with the AC system. Road Noise. -The internal plastic scratches easily.

Realiable but...
I bought my CRV new. Gas mileage is nothing to talk about. Gas mileage is the same as my 6 cylinder Sebring, but the Honda has less power. The suspension is tight and rides rough. Have had to replace differenial fluid 4 times since I bought the car. The engine has been realiable without any problems. Lots of room in front and back. Car feels like it always pulls to the right...Honda service just can't seem to fix it. I would by another Honda, but not a CRV.

Pretty Happy
I bought my 2004 CRV LX with 35k miles and put 40,000 miles on it so far. It has been extremely dependable and I have only performed oil changes. I put a 3,500 pound hitch on it and pull 1,700 pounds without a problem. Actually, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't struggle at all with the weight. Drives like its on rails in snow. If you want a good all-round suv this model will satisfy.

It's a Honda Need I Say Anymore!
I've had this car since 2004 (new). And I must say I love it! My friends have joked with me about it being a "Soccer Mom Car". Don't care...Would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Very Disappointed
Purchased a 2004 CRV 4 months ago (31,000) and I am very disappointed in the build quality (built in England). Lots of rattles. Badly needs a 200HP engine. Gas mileage is unimpressive. You must have stability control and traction control, mine didn't come with it. Slippery tight corners are a nightmare.

My First Honda
I purchased the CRV used after owning a Ford Ranger for several years. I was very impressed with the 2-wheel drive ranger and would have bought another if I hadn't moved to a northern climate (in one word, snow). So, I did my research, saw a deal on a CRV LX (with 4WD) and grabbed it. So far I'm pretty happy. Major complaints: allot rattles in the interior that I never had with the Ranger, rear wheels don't engage quick enough when front wheels begin slipping (this was addressed in 2005 model), radio is placed to far from driver's reach, door lock mechanism on driver's side was broken, and no standard stability control or ABS brakes on 2004 model. However, I was impressed with the amount of space, comfortable interior, performance and control of the vehicle (limited body-roll) and good fuel economy. All in all, a good vehicle. However my next cute-ute will have ABS and stability-control. It will likely be another CRV or Rav4. Japanese all the way baby!
