2019 Land Rover Discovery review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2019 Land Rover Discovery?

The 2019 Land Rover Discovery is a luxury SUV that seats up to five or seven people, depending on configuration. It comes with a standard 340-horsepower, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine that works with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is standard, and competitors include the Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Volvo XC90.

What’s New on the 2019 Land Rover Discovery?

New standard features include LED headlights, lane-keep assist and reverse traffic detection. The multimedia system’s interface has been updated, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity are available as no-cost options. A new steering wheel uses touch-sensitive controls, and a newly available Wade Sensing system offers real-time wading depth information.

What Features in the 2019 Land Rover Discovery Are Most Important?

Available features include a two-speed transfer case, air suspension, heated steering wheel, power-operated third-row seat and a 360-degree camera system. Available active safety features include adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning and automatic emergency braking.

Should I Buy the 2019 Land Rover Discovery?

With its combination of off-road-ready features and high-quality cabin materials, the Discovery has Land Rover’s hallmark blend of capability and luxury. But if you regularly need a third-row seat, be sure to give the Discovery’s a thorough inspection; we found it a bit tight, and there’s not a lot of cargo room behind it.

Highly disappointed

I have to say I’m so disappointed with this car. This has to be the worst paint I have ever had in a vehicle. I swear, you can even look at it without it scratching. Also has the entire roof trim piece go flying off, that was fun.The interior design is fine, I truly think the car rides nice and the seats are comfortable. But, the materials that are used to make the inside of the car are so CHEAP! Everything rattles so much that I couldn’t stand it, I took to Land Rover and they fixed it but of course ar a premium price. If you are used to higher end cars like Mercedes or BMW, do not waste your money on this car. I will never own another Land Rover.
