What Is the 2024 Maserati Grecale?
Based on a version of the same platform that underpins Alfa Romeo’s Stelvio SUV, the Grecale is the smallest and most affordable Maserati. Like the Stelvio, the Grecale’s base engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. In the entry-level GT trim, the 2.0-liter makes 296 horsepower, while the mid-level Modena trim bumps that up to 325 hp. The high-performance Grecale Trofeo gets a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 derived from the engine in Maserati’s MC20 supercar. The V-6 is detuned for SUV duty, but it still makes 523 hp. All Grecales have an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. The Grecale’s rivals include the Audi Q5 Sportback, BMW X4, Porsche Macan and Land Rover Range Rover Velar.

The Grecale was all-new last year, so little has changed for 2024. There’s a new steering wheel, the Modena trim level gets a new wheel finish and the Trofeo adds standard adaptive LED headlights. Maserati also launched its new Fuoriserie Personalization Program this year, which allows buyers to customize their Grecale with a wider palette of colors, interior materials and wheel designs. The electric Grecale Folgore was expected to arrive this year but is now set to debut for 2025.

Should I Buy the 2024 Maserati Grecale?
The Grecale carries a bit of a price premium over most of its competitors. What you get in exchange for your extra coin is an unmatched sense of style — at least on the outside. While the interior is attractive and modern, it’s also a little bland and doesn’t quite live up to the promise of this vehicle’s swoopy, bulging sheet metal. You also get generous space, particularly in the backseat, which boasts greater legroom than many competitors.
Both the standard suspension setup and the optional adaptive air suspension keenly balance ride comfort with deft handling, and even the base engine has sufficient power. Turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines are standard fare in this class, but this Maserati’s distinguishes itself with stout output and a pleasant sound. You might pay more for the Grecale than you would an Audi Q5 or a BMW X3, but the driving experience is proportionally elevated.
