Mazda CX-5

Amazing vehicle. Very comfortable and smooth riding. The head lights are phenomenal very bright. I went from having a Mazda 3 to the Mazda CX-5 and have been very satisfied with Mazda

New to the road

Just recently purchased the vehicle. It is smooth just like my old Mazda 3 with the perks of all the bells and whistles. Looking forward to seeing how the AWD handles the snow this winter.

Not Without Its Gremlins

Don’t get me wrong, I love this car. Nothing else compares in the class in terms of value, luxury, and refinement - to me. However, I’ve had to visit the dealer multiple times for warranty work and I’m still having these troubles, but now the bumper to bumper warranty has ended so anything I can do myself, I will. My driver side window makes an awful nails on a chalkboard screech when it rolls down occasionally and I’ve had 3/4 door lock regulators on replaced due to squealing when locking. The fourth door lock is now failing. Since day one, my brakes squealed like they’re from a 20 year old Subaru. I was once having a terrible day at work and as I walked to my car I thought “the only way today could get worse is if my car is broken down.” Once I got in the car it proceeded to tell me all safety features associated with the camera and radar systems had malfunctioned. So back to the dealer I went. Then after a road trip, the car told me the automatic transmission had malfunctioned. I drove it gingerly only to have the dealer tell me nothing was wrong and the sensor must’ve gotten hot/wet causing it to throw a fake code. Thankfully, I took pictures of all malfunction warnings and showed my service advisor. The Mazda connect infotainment screen also went bad at about 5,000 miles and was replaced. The Mazda Service Advisors and I are on a first name basis, and I’ve never had anything less than good service. xxxxxxto Browns Mazda in Fairfax VA. All of these electronic gremlins happened below 40,000 miles and the car continues on with them today. The only other complaint I have is sometimes there’s a rattle coming from my door (I think) on less than perfect roads. I’m still searching for the problem. Why keep this car you might ask? I LOVE this car. Sure it’s not exactly fast, but the quality of the interior, exterior design, useable space, and value for the money just can’t be beat. I get compliments on this car daily and my friends ask me to speak to them before I sell or trade it in. The stereo is awesome and I added on the apple CarPlay. That too works great despite being an add on. The handling of this car is also a highlight. I can take turns with greater confidence than I’ve ever been able to. It always feels steady. Bad driving characteristics would be inclement weather. I do not have as much confidence when driving this is the snow compared to my old Impreza and I drove through a gnarly rainstorm once and experience hydroplaning more than once. The automatic wipers did a great job at keeping the windshield clear, though. I’m not a tire expert, but I do not think I’ll be getting TOYO tires on this car when the time comes. I will definitely be buying a tire with a better wet/snow rating. Gas mileage has also been a huge highlight. I do not have a lengthy commute, but I keep the roads hot on the weekends. My average for Trip A (my oil change trip computer) is averaging 30mpg right now and my Trip B (fill ups) is averaging 27mpg. Consistently on highway road trips I average 32-35mpg keeping it at 75mph or below with the AC going. I suggest using mid grade gas or, if you area offers it, ethanol free gas. The cleaner burn of ethanol free gas will keep your engine cleaner and gas mileage up. From what I can tell from my internet searches, people have not had the same experiences as me with this car. That is why I recommend it and will continue to do so. I love this car, but I wish the gremlins had been sorted out prior to purchase.

It is fun to drive and gas mileage if good

This car is fun to drive and has plenty of room. But the Navigation sucks. Sometimes you can put in an address and sometimes you can't. Thank goodness I have my phone for directions as a back up.

Reliable and Eye-Catching

I have zero complaints. I have owned the Grand Touring trim in Soul Red Crystal for 2 years and driven 31k miles. I have not had a single issue in that time. I have driven on rough Colorado trailhead roads, through snow, into the mountains to ski and hike and camp. The AWD is functional. The Bose sound system is wonderful. I get compliments on the color and styling frequently. Love this car. I wish it had more power, but 187HP is fair enough.

Stylish fun ride

Good looks, quiet, fun to drive, nice sound system. Not just another compact SUV. My only complaint is the seat coushins are uncomfortable (too firm).

Luv My Car!!

We purchased a low mileage used CX-5 from Tom Bush VW/Mazda in Jax, FL (Steve Garcia) and love it! It was our second CX-5 (the first was involved in a wreck) and we didn't even think of purchasing anything else from anywhere else. We've had trucks for a long time (and still have one), but sold one for a vehicle to do long road trips (mostly) vs. renting a car. Our CX-5 is comfortable to ride and drive, plenty of room and gets 30 mph. And we both love the heated seats!! Yes, we are happy campers with our CX-5!
