What Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

The GLC is Mercedes-Benz’s entry in the luxury compact SUV class, and it’s available in a traditional SUV shape as well as a sloped-roof coupe version. Both body styles seat five people. GLC300 models are powered by a 255-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s matched with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a nine-speed automatic transmission. In its non-coupe form, the base GLC 300 comes with rear- or all-wheel drive, but every other GLC comes only with AWD. New for 2025 is the GLC350e plug-in hybrid, which supplements the turbo 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor, raising total system output to 313 hp. Its 23.3-kilowatt-hour battery provides up to 54 miles of electric range.

A high-performance AMG GLC43 version gets a 416-hp, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder that’s also augmented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, along with a sport-tuned suspension and other performance-focused features. It’s joined for 2025 by the new AMG GLC63 S E Performance, which adds a 201-hp electric motor to the rear axle; it makes a total of 671 hp. Its 6.1-kWh battery is only good for a mile or so of electric travel, but the AMG GLC63 earns an EPA-estimated 31 mpg-equivalent in combined city/highway driving and needs only 3.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph.

GLC competitors include the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Genesis GV70. The GLC Coupe’s rivals include the Audi Q5 Sportback, BMW X4 and Infiniti QX55.

What’s New on the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

The big news for the 2025 GLC is the revival of the GLC350e PHEV and the introduction of the AMG GLC63 S E Performance. All 2025 GLCs receive minor trim updates and benefit from more standard equipment, including a third-generation infotainment interface, digital key capability that allows owners to use their phone as a vehicle key, and a center airbag between front-seat occupants.

What Features in the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 11.9-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument panel
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • 18-inch aluminum wheels
  • Six-speaker audio system
  • Automatic headlights and high beams
  • Hands-free power liftgate
  • Power-folding side mirrors
  • Heated front seats with memory
  • Imitation leather upholstery
  • Power windows and locks
  • Power tilt/telescoping steering wheel
  • Remote keyless entry and push-button start
  • Dual-zone climate control

Available features include:

  • Navigation with augmented reality
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Head-up display
  • Premium audio system
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Ventilated seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Leather upholstery
  • Nappa leather upholstery
  • Heated rear seats
  • Adaptive cruise control with lane centering
  • AWD (standard on all but the GLC300)

Should I Buy the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

The base GLC300 is a well-equipped luxury compact SUV that offers genuinely posh trimmings and plenty of options to satisfy a variety of buyers. Those who put a premium on style can choose the coupe, while those who want serious muscle can opt for the AMG GLC43 or the new AMG GLC63 S E Performance. The new GLC350e’s 54-mile all-electric driving range is compelling for green-leaning luxury shoppers. This vehicle’s higher trims demand serious dough, however, and all GLCs have touch-sensitive controls that can be frustrating to use. The GLC’s backseat room and cargo space also trail some class rivals.

  • I expected much more from a Mercedes.

I expected much more from a Mercedes. They cut back on some features you would expect from a Mercedes that were there recently and are there no longer. Examples, door projection lights on rear doors, digital key, car wash mode, walk away door lock. There are others. Now for the most crazy one. The remote start feature! When you use this feature and you touch the door handle the motor shuts off. What is the logic behind this? Why would you remote start a car only to have it shut down when you touch the driver side door handle to drive off. Then there is the HOLD feature. Why do you have to re-apply it every time you come to a complete stop and have it stay on until you turn it off? I have these features on my BMW and they work as you would expect. What was MB thinking! Then there is the question of the radio/media. There is no on/off switch. It comes on when you start the car unless you lower the volume to zero before turning off the car. I really dislike the touch screen. I prefer buttons, knobs and switches. The most important things like the ride, handling, and interior quality are simply great. In my opinion it's the little things that separates my Mercedes from my BMW, where BMW comes out on top.

Owned for 2 months, replaced a 2023 Buick Envision Avenir. Much better car, more comfortable, more luxurious. Used to Drive Lincolns, stopped as they are now made in China. Compared to Jaguar and Cadillac, clearly better car.
