I just purchased a new 2011 Versa SL Hatchback with the CVT. I drove the base model and the SL and was sold on the SL with the CVT. It's so worth the extra money. The ride is incredible, so smooth! This great little car is so much fun to drive. The visibility is great. You can turn on a dime, and get in and out of parking spots with ease. The seats are so incredibly comfortable, and so much leg room in the front and back seats. Also has good headroom. Safety is important to me, and this car has everything I wanted. Front and side curtain airbags, ABS,EBD, and traction control. I couldn't find another car in it's class that had all of these. I'm coming from a Subaru Outback with all wheel drive, so I'm a little concerned about how it will handle in the Minnesota winters. I've talked to a couple of people who have told me that if I put on Blizzack tires, it will ride just like an all wheel drive. I'm going to give it a try as soon as winter approaches. I love the versatility of the hatchback. The back seat folds down for lots of cargo space. The front passenger seat also lays flat to give you 8' of cargo space. I don't use the back seat much, but it's nice to have such a roomy back seat when I do need it. The only thing I would like to see changed is to have the arm rest/center console longer and deeper for more storage. The way it is now, you can't reach the steering wheel while your arm is resting on the arm rest. It' would also be nice to have a telescoping steering wheel, but I guess you can't have everything, especially in a car in this price range. I did a lot of research and drove a lot of cars, and I think this car gives you the most for your money, and rides better than any of the cars in it's class. I highly recommend this car.

We purchased a Versa 1.8S hatchback with 6 speed manual transmission about 6 weeks ago. Pros: Good value for the $, Nissan reliability, great safety ratings, excellent head and leg room in both the front and back seats, huge cargo area with the back seats folded down, plenty of accelaration merging on to the freeway, solid ride for a small car, turns on a dime, fun to drive. Combined gas mileage so far of 33 MPG. Cons: Although I have plenty of leg room, I have to slide the seat further forward than I would like so my arms can reach the steering wheel. A telescoping steering wheel would be helpful and solve this problem. Also, no center console/arm rest (we purchased an aftermarket arm rest on ebay for $70), and because the backseats don't fold down flat, there's about an 8" difference in elevation in the cargo area. The upholstery is made from a velour-type material and everything sticks to it - especially dog fur!

Needed a car for a 60 mile round trip, daily. Also needed to fit my two teenage sons in the back on weekend trips around town. I selected the Versa over several other make/models due to huge leg room in back seat, super gas mileage, comfort in handling (hey, it's a commuter car, not a luxury sedan, but I don't get a sore back or butt from driving it). It came with a great stereo package including i-pod connectivity, cd player, and steering wheel audio controls. Integrated bluetooth that works really well and the cargo area is fine for this class of car (subcompact - hatchback).

Great car, highly functional for an active small family, great value, it's got a whole lot of room for little car! It feels like this perfect little cross over, with the gas mileage to back it up. It is higher off the ground than any other vehicle in it's class, and the exterior design allows for great visibility.

The interior of this car is HUGE!! I am 6'3" and I can put my fist over my head. I do not have to lean the seat way back and can finally drive a small car in comfort. The gas mileage is 23 city with a/c, 24 without. My first road trip driving on cruise 76 miles per hour I got 34.3 mpg. The A/C is exceptionally cold, the standard 6 disc cd player/radio is, for a 49 year old, loud, lots of bass and easy to use. My only complaint is with the exterior colors. The red, white or blue just did not do the car any favors. I hate a silver car but the metallic gray was my best choice. The all black interior is excellent especially when compared to others. No mechanical problems, everything is fine! I LUV LUV My Nissan Versa!! This is my 4th Nissan and I would buy another one.

You don't buy a Versa thinking it will be the performance car of a lifetime - you buy it looking for a dependable compact car, and that is exactly what I got. It's been about 4 months now, and I absolutely love it. Fits my needs - wonderful city car, with a few long drives here and there. Go for the hatchback, the extra investment is absolutely worth it.

Versa Hatchback is a good buy for the $$$

Suddenly I found myself in the position where I needed to buy another car but yet get the best bang for my buck (since I didn't have a lot of bucks)! I hadn't driven a car of this size for many years, and I really wasn't too excited about having to buy one now! The first time I drove the 1.8 litre, manual shift 6 speed I was impressed with the get up and go it had as well as the way it handled both in the city and on the interstate. Yes, it will keep up with the big boys but it does start to whine a little bit at 80 miles plus but performance is still there. On a recent road trip with all interstate driving I averaged 34mpg; in the city I will average 27. I could do better if I backed off of the "zip" but it is a lot of fun to drive in the city because it handles very well. I really like the fact that the stereo has an input jack so I can plug in my satellite radio as well as my mp3 player. I like the tire inflation warning light. Friends have commented that the car is "cute" ( I prefer hot) and they are amazed at the leg room in the back seat. There are drink holders up front as well as in the side pockets of the front doors. On the flip side, I sure wished the S model had a console in between the two front seats (I added an inexpensive after market console which works well). The placement of the 12volt plug for accessories is in between the front seats. I find that placement awkward plus I would liked to have had another plug in the back hatch. The design of the hatch cover shelf could be better. I am always knocking it off its "clips" when putting groceries in the back. The same fabric covers both the seats and part of the interior door and it is a magnet for lint, dog hair and dirt. I like gauges instead of idiot lights... although there is a tach. Considering the amount of $$$ it takes to put a Versa key on your key ring, this is a great buy!

I bought this car in July 2011. I absolutely love this car. It drives great, it is very easy to drive it, it runs smooth. Looks cute and it is a very spacious car. Has much leg room in the back too. I also like it that it sits higher than my previous car. Fits me perfect. I think I made the best choice when I decided to buy this car. I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to purchase a good car.

I bought a used Nissan Versa hatchback 2011 in august 2013. I am a firm believer in Honda Civic and will always be. But the manufacturer ended the production of a hatchback model. For practical reasons, I switch for a the actual car. Here are my impressions so far: PROS: -A very spacious volume, even for a small car. Impressive headspace and legroom. -A soft tune suspension that feels you are driving an 80's Oldsmobile. -More than sufficient visibility as the windows surround the vehicule. -It's equipped with an auxiliary output for MP3. -It has a handsome profile and a overall sturdy appearance. Although I feel they must change the front grille. Looks old. -The dashboard and it's components are quite ergonomics. CONS: -The driving dynamic is decent, although no fun to drive. Accelaration is slow to respond. -The steering wheel is too sensitive. -When the rear windows are open while driving on highway speed, the noise becomes more than a simple nuisance. -The doors are heavy. When opening them, you need to hold the handle. Otherwise, it will eventually damage the hinges. It is not a Civic, but I feel I will eventually convert... I will update in 2014 pertaining its reliability. N.B. When purchasing a car that has been parked outside a lot for a few months, make sure to have all the parts that are subjected to rusts (brake pads, rotors, etc) inspected before concluding the sale.
