Explore the 2006 Saturn Ion

Reliable, cheap, fuel efficient, and strong.

This is my first car. I bought it with 168,000 miles on it, and had to replace the fuel pump ($500). After that, I’ve driven the car back and forth without any major issues. I drove from Florida to Massachusetts in two days - with 11-hour drives each day - and the car behave perfectly. It has never let me down since I bought it. Considering the price I bought it from, it is extremely reliable and pretty good-looking. It also has more than enough space for you and your partner, and spacious trunk for storage. I cannot describe in words how amazing this little car is. My car is about to hit the 200,000 miles on it and still drives smooth down the road. The only bad thing that I could say about this car is the leg space in the rear seats. Even though it’s enough for people to put their legs, it seems to be a little tight for them. Other than that, the design is fun and comfortable overall. The original audio system is above other competitors from the same year. What a shame GM discontinued this brand!!

GREAT CAR FOR THE VALUE

I bought my 2006 Saturn ion at 193,000 miles for $550. My ex got into a accident when it hit 240,000. It was such a reliable and strong car! Replaced some filters, battery, alternator, and also had to replace radiator due to running over a raccoon on accident :( I went back and forth a lot in that car doing doordash. I would definitely recommend that car to anyone who’s looking for something that’s cheap and reliable.

The greatest workhorse of a little car

I bought my Ion in 2006, with 7 miles on it. It is about to hit 200k with NO major problems. My daughter had it for the last 4 years and beat it up pretty good, but to get it back in shape for my younger one is a heck of a lot cheaper than getting another car. Bonus: my PP taxes are only $17 on it.

Reliable

My ex never took care of this car (even rare oil changes) and it lasted him years. Pretty amazing. This is also the only compact car I've ever driven that I didn't hate. Even if you hate compact cars like I do, give it a test drive. Worth the gas mileage and low maintence.

Very reliable, I could always count on it.

I was impressed with this vehicle, the mph was better than other cars I've driven, about 25mph. It drives quiet and had room for all of my things in the spacious trunk.

Bad Timing Belt Design

Overall I love this car, however in 6 years the timing belt/chain has jumped timing 3x!! The interior design is great, there's plenty of leg room front and back, the sound system is great, decide compatible. Engine is good, parts aren't super pricy, it's great on gas mileage. Handles great, love how easy the cruse control is to turn on and adjust. My mom owned this car for years had to replace the time 2x in 3 years after she had owned it for at least 4years b4 the timing went. Then my sister owned the car for 2 years, she city drove it and a few long distance trips. My mom drove it across 4 states for me to use the car for a few years. I drove the car for a week and I had the main fuel line bust the first day, get it back from the shop make a few errands over a week and the timing goes on me! I'd be happy to fix it and drive the car for the next few years, but with this reoccurring problem I'm worried about putting a so much money into fixing a problem that keeps occurring!
