Established XB owner
I can't say enough great things about this car. I am self employed and in this economy have to watch every penny. In 2006 gas prices went to over $3 per gallon and heading up so we had to do something to help offset our pick up truck that was getting 9 MPG city. So my partner & I started looking at small trucks-still too low MPG -so then looked at SUV's and yep still too low mpg -but in my search on line or at the dealers the Scion XB kept popping up and I finally drove it-WOW spacious-great MPG-reliable-and fun, fun, fun to drive-My daughter is 16 and just got her permit to drive, also loves it-it has very good visibility and surprising get up and go-and our clients remember the company w/ the unusual car. I tell clients we have gone green. So if you are looking for a great little car don't pass this one by.

Just Great MPG and Lots of Room
I purchased the Scion xB after my best friend got one. I initially didn't think I'd get one, but after driving his, I knew I had to get one. I purchased mine used with 28,000 miles on it. It looked brand new and even had a few extras like a sun roof and center console. (Thanks Cars.com) I've been very happy with it. I got it just before gas prices when to $4 per gal, so that certainly helped during that time. I just love the way it drives and having all the room inside makes it great for shopping. We even hauled a 52" HDTV in the back just by putting the seats down. It does start to drive a little sluggish if you have a full load of passengers, though depending on their weight and size. For me and a couple of friends though it does great. Overall I find the engine pretty peppy. Living in La it gets hot and the AC works good. I have since purchased another one that my company paid for which I use as my company vehicle. My best friend, well his mother bought one too, so we love these little cars. It seems folks either really love them or really hate them, but mostly due to looks. Once you drive one or even ride in one you'll see why we love them so much. This is the first car that I wake up everyday and I look forward to driving it.

what a fun car
We've had the Xb for over 14 months now and put 30000 miles on it for a total of 66000 miles. It only needs oil changes and not much else (spark plugs and filters). It is fun to drive, has a ton of room inside (for a family of 5) and gets great gas mileage. The ride is somewhat rough but acceptable and the doors are tinny. We absolutely love it. Easy to use, easy to maintain (soooo easy to work on), cheap to run, fun, and unusual.

Buy this wagon
this vehicle is great for big guys, I'm 6'4 and there's plenty of room for legs and head room. rides very nice, a bit of a wind noise but that's expected with a square windshield.

Toyota Denies Windshield Cracking Problem
The windshield in these crack by themselves, apparently due to heat differentials. Mine was parked for four days and suddenly the windshield cracked. Toyota found the absolute tiniest of "pits" that wasn't even on the line of the crack and stated that was the cause. It's a complete denial of a bad design and therefore I will not recommend this car to anyone. The postings on the internet about this problem with other xB's is growing and Toyota denies their claims also. As a matter of principle, I will not buy another Toyota.

safest car
I recently had a horrible accident 2 months before I purchased the Scion Xb. I think this car is the safest car to drive, and it is the best value for your money. Not only does it get good gas milage (which is wonderful now, with gas at almost $4.00) but it drives wonderful on the roads.

Small and yet big
I love this car. My husband can seat his 6'4" frame easily in front or back seats and with the back seats down we can carry four dogs easily. It moves quickly (though acceleration could be better) and handles beautifully. The "wheel on each corner" design keeps it grabbing the road. Parking is a lot easier than with most other cars. The fuel efficiency isn't all I'd like and if someone hit us in an SUV we'd definitely come off worse. But all in all it is a reliable, functional bargain.

The Toaster Rules!
My Gen. 1, 2006 xB is a great little car. I love going 2 weeks on a tank of fuel. Cruises easily at highway speeds with 4 adults on board. The 1.5 liter 4 with variable valve timing has plenty of pep if one knows how to use the torque of a small engine. The automatic tranny is a smooth one. Everyone raves about the roomy interior. I have owned lots of cars, but this one is definitely my favorite.
