You'll never take my VR6 away.
I have a 2001 VR6 that I purchased new, and it's still with me to this day. Everything is all original and works, including the heated seats and powered rear mirrors that pivot when in reverse to show you the curbside. Still baffled by how much these things are commanding in the used car market.

15 years 450K miles and still runs close to new
Bought the car new in 2004. I am not a mechanic, but your regular DIY guy. The car has been great to me quick reliable and very easy to work on. It still has the original engine and transmission. As with all cars make sure you keep up with the oil changes, religiously!

People are crazy about these but I don't get it
I'm always having to fix stuff on my 2003 ALH TDI . Poeple think they are a great buy but Diesel costs more so mileage isn't as great as they make it out to be.

Very enjoyable driver
So, mine is actually a 1999.5 MkIV, same as 2000, but not same as 1999. Ive got the 2.0 AEG 5spd combination of Jetta GLS, and I've owned it since 2002, just hit 180,000 miles. I've had to service it, and replaced most of the front steering and suspension wear components, and did mild parts upgrades, and the car is really a lot of fun, even though it's under-powered. These cars don't take a lot to keep going, for years and years, if you have access to a reputable VW mechanic. Parts are cheap and services are easy. Worst thing I had was a heater core at 175,000mi, but it was a good opportunity to service everything in the dash, too... Cheap as heck to own and maintain.

Reliable and Hard to Let Go
Our family drove this car for 18 years. It handled well, drove well, and gave us little to no problems outside of routine maintenance. It?s a great Little car that pack a lot of unexpected power

Not reliable, not worth it
I owned my Jetta for about two years and it broke down after the first year every two months on the dot. It was so frustrating, that I eventually traded it in when I paid $500 to get it fixed and two months later it broke down again and was going to cost more. I would recommend to continue looking for something better!

The 4th Gen Jetta is the best in the books
I've owned this vehicle since 2010, and now in 2017 I have only done routine maintenance and driven it over 70K miles. The vehicle's interior seats have torn at the seams, but I just stitched them up myself. Also, the trunk sometimes got a little bit of a water leak inside, but I figured out it was coming from the tail light gaskets, so I just used a bit of clear caulk and that solved that. The vehicle is not fast by any means, I have the 2.0L gasoline motor paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, and going down the highway is a bit annoying with the loud revs of the motor. But the car performs flawlessly, and the first few gears are quick enough to get you where you need to go. Would I recommend these cars to a friend? Yes. Would I buy another? Yes. I have owned many VW's and this is by far my favorite.

3rd best car out of 12 I have owned.
VW are a well built car. The new 6 cylnders engine have lots of power, almost like a turbo. I like the 5 speed manual.
