  • God sent Angel's to carry us home.

Bought the gold 1993 940GL in 1994 with 19k miles. July 1999 we were driving back to Tucson AZ from San Diego when the car reached 100k. We were 17 miles east of El Centro the Volvos heater hose failed. My wife and I were Stranded for over two hours with no reception on the phone. Decided to see if the car could make it to El Centro (17 miles). We made it and learned there was no motel in El Centro or tow co. In Yuma, Phoenix on 4th of July. With hopes of making the 45 miles to Yuma AZ we proceed. The Volvo did well at 40mph without the A/C. With no issues I figured it was more cost effective to replace the engine in Phoenix or Tucson than tow the car on a holiday. We made it home with no coolant driving 370 miles in 115° weather and gods Angeles to carry us home. The next day, in Tucson, was July 5th the recognized holiday and all businesses were closed except Auto Zone. I bought a water pump, heater hose and antifreeze to fix the Volvo. We drove our volvo 270,000 when my son's life was sparred in an accident from a stop sign runner. Both cars were going 50 plus mph. We had God's blessing that day and a superior car to bring us home safely.

  • Awesome ride

My 1994 volvo 940 turbo wagon has 263,000 miles and is running fine. Love it. Towing and family cruiser. Cool car for sure. Can pull a trailer or hold plenty of cargo.

  • A classic RWD Volvo with low miles

This car is like the Volvo's when the red block engine with rear wheel drive made the famous for being a quality car.

  • Even a 94 can still compete

Drives nice. Can handle a tight corner well too. A shame they are rarely maintained properly. I will have to keep looking for another prime example.

  • Another great ride

My first Volvo was a 1986 740 wagon with manual transmission. I still have it after 439,000 miles with no trouble. I bought a 1994 940 thinking I'd need to replace my 740 one of these days, and there are some things I prefer about it but others I prefer about the 740. The 940's engine is smoother and quieter but the 740 handles much better. Also the gas mileage of the 740 is better, probably because it's a stick shift, and it accelerates better. It gives me 26-28 City and 32 freeway. I only get about 22 City and 30 freeway with the 940. They're both great cars.

  • Great Student Car!

I have the 1994 Vovlo 940 Turbo and it's amazing! My mom purchased this vehicle about a year ago and i recieved it as a hand-me-down. I love the power sunroof and heated leather seats. I've had minor problems (Speedometer quit) but it's an easy fix! As a 17 year old student driver, i love my Volvo!

  • Great vehicle

I use this vehicle to travel 30 miles up to college and back 5 days a week, and it has proved to be a great value. It is incredibly comfortable to drive in, and performs quite well for a two-ton car with a 4-cylinder (it has the turbo in it). I have had some problems with the brake lights, but they have recently been resolved. Otherwise, this vehicle is excellent: comfortable, reliable, and safe.

  • Lives up to the reputation

This is the fifth Volvo I have owned in 40 years. At 220K miles it is still going well, all whistles and bells work, mileage is where it should be and annual mtce is below what one would expect. For practicality the Volvo Station Wagon ranks high. Given the age of the car, the annaual costs of ownership are greatly reduced and ideal for a fixed income driver.
