2008 Audi S4 review
Great engine but Has timing chain rattle, interior is in prestige condition years later. Comfortable ride quality but make sure to look at the front control arms and axles, my front two are clicking. Headlights, watch out mine have seen better days.

2008 Audi S4 review
4 years ago I was a pen stroke away from buying a new Ford Fusion. My buddy works at Audi Reno and said come take a look at this car. It was an original owner white 2008 S4 with 68k miles. I read all the reviews and was super skeptical. I was concerned about maintenance and timing chain issues. After driving it and feeling those Recaro seats and sound of that sweet NA V8 I decided that life is short and to take the risk. Here we are 4 years later and that risk certainly paid off. The S4 has been an absolute pleasure to own and to drive as a daily commuter. They look sick, that V8 will always put a smile on your face, it eats corners alive, and has all the power you could ever want. The Quattro AWD makes the S4 a dream to drive in the snow and makes it a practical choice for certain climates. I've put 40k miles on it over the last 4 years and not a single problem outside of regular maintenance which for a now dated car, is hardly more expensive than your non euro Ford Fusion for example. My friend is actually the head mechanic at Audi Reno and he said the later years of this model.. 07 and particularly the 08 are pretty solid. 08 was the last year they made that model and they had worked out a lot of the kinks. He also said that with dilligent regular maintenance he has seen these cars get to 200k miles without timing chain issues. IMO the biggest "risk" you take by far is related to gas prices. It's a F****** gas guzzler. Take it easy you will be lucky to get 12 MPG. Put it in sport mode you are certainly under 10MPG. This is definitely the main drawback for me. You will find yourself at the pump more than you would like! Having said that, you should take the risk and buy this car given the following: it has a proper service history, you have had it looked at by a mechanic who knows these cars, and a willingness to pay at the pump. If those are all true... take the risk and buy it!!! For me the S4 has been amazing. The sound of that NA V8 with the windows down on a nice summer day.. Doesn't get much better than that!!!!

2008 Audi S4 review
This car is quite literally the best thing I’ve ever owned and is so much fun to drive. The ride is a bit harsh and pot holes will kill your back but overall tolerable for daily driving. The performance is amazing the throttle response from the 4.2L N/A V8 is amazing and it always has power on demand (above 4,000 rpm that is). Luckily for me the cars last owner took amazing care of the car mechanically and cosmetically so the reliability has been great but the timing chains will fail on all 4.2 V8 models inevitably but if you keep doing general maintenance it’ll last a long long time (higher mileage doesn’t always mean bad either I bought my car with 122,568) just be careful when shopping for this car and listen for a rattle on start up if it lasts longer than 2 seconds run away but do know that most B7 S4’s had this rattle from the day they were built but you’ll only be able to hear while the car is turning over or for a split second after turn over
