I bought my 2004 325i in 2005 with about 20,000 km on it. It has been very reliable and has all the features I could want in a car. It's still running perfectly with about 275,000 km on it now. I do maintenance as recommended by the BMW club which includes some preventive maintenance. Repair costs have been about the same as other cars. If you are looking for a good used car, the 2003 to 2005 BMW 325i should be on your list.

325Xi Wagon. Simply a classic. Great road feel and long distance driver. This is my second and I just think it is a perfect BMW. Plenty of space to lug stuff around and is just a treat to drive. Stable in winter weather. Fun on the twisties. Engine is responsive and sounds amazing. Can't say enough about this E46.

A22 sparkling graphite paint compared to previous version e36, e46 this is a excellent verion of the BMW 3 series excellent ride, comfortable, perfect long distance driver, handles awesome on mountain roads. Ample trunk space, good sound system. navigation system outdated, no way to upgrade - simple waze app makes bmw system obsolete not fond of the aluminum trim, shows scratches and dings very easily prefer the wood trim option if maintained proper, expect 28-30 mpg even after 110,000 miles on odometer awesome all around 3 series performer made in Bavaria! find one, and pour some love in it and it will be a good and faithful servant

Generally people start out by saying they are expensive to maintain, just don't go to the dealership. In every City there is someone who specializes in BMW older models. 2500 miles is oil change time, not 5000 miles like dealership will tell you. I strongly believe the reason they tell you that is something will go wrong and you will be right back in there to fix a $3000 repair that normally would cost you $75 elsewhere, As this happened to me. At 100,000 miles, whether it needs it or not, REPLACE "VISA VALVE". This part sits on the side of the motor right at the oil stick. There's a light rattle sometimes when I start the car, then goes away. When it got bad enough, check engine light came on, it stopped in its tracks. It took my son one minute to take off 3 screws and replace. The part was $59.00 on Amazon! Dealership wanted $500 for the part and $300 to put it on. Car is good as new.

We searched all over Northern Virginia for a reliable used car for our college aged daughter. I'm the original owner and have put over 140k on it to date 4/21. It has been my main transport since purchase. I have the manual and no matter where I'm heading its a blast to be going there. It is nimble because it is lighter than it's heavier, newer cousins but it can still stick a corner and accelerate away with enough umph to make you smile for the basic little beauty it is. I've had to have a few minor repairs in the last 4 years but prior to that it was a steady, reliable companion who never let me down. Back seating has plenty of room, front seats are plenty roomy for tall people. Heated seats and other novel inovative items for its time still work great.
