Hurricane Florence - and my newish Chevy Equinox.
October 3, 2018
I was in a Hurricane Florence pickle. Drove towards Charlotte, NC but my little 2000 Ford Focus broke down and the mechanic in Laurinsburg, NC said he would try to fix it. We rented a car from Hoffman Rentals at a very large fee, drove to Charlotte. After 3 days car still was not fixed so we drove back up, ending in Durham, stopping at every hotel/motel on the way to try to find a place to sleep. The place we finally found --Extended Stay America (right straight out of an Alfred Hitchcock horror movie.) After giving up on the Focus, we drove the rental back to :Laurinsburg, praying for a miracle. Hoffman Rentals had referred us to Champion Ford Lincoln Motors, if we found that we had to purchase a car. We stopped in at the dealership on the way back to Laurinsburg and was met by Mr. Ron Wyche, with whom I had spoken the day before (calling from Durham),He had cleared the way for me to purchase a car by checking out my credit, and other specs, It was pretty much clear sailing after that. He brought a Chevy Equinox for me to try and I liked it. I bought the car, and we drove back to Laurinsburg to return the rental and pay my car repair bill, then took off for home. Highway 74 was pronounced safe and we drove back on a not so savory road. All of this was accomplished in one day. We arrived home around 8 PM, rather insane from all the rotten luck. Mr. Wyche was stellar. He treated us as though we were his only clients, ever. He made it possible for us to get home in safe and comfy transport and , if any one cares to, to, I would be happy to give him my persona best rating on the phone. Thank you, Ron.
