I visited Lamborghini of Newport Beach searching for a new car. Calling me back for the second time, Newport Lamborghini's "Rick" had the answers I was looking for. Shopping for an exoticar is so much more than finding the right car. Service and support are vital to keeping the expensive toy in good order for safe touring. He confirmed my inquiry and said it was waiting for me. 2014 McLaren MP4-12C review
2013 with 10K miles. Orange with $40K in carbon upgrades, including seats. Dealer maintained. Perfect used condition. Incredible performance. Well balanced at the limits. Excellent driving position except that mirror is too low for taller driver - partical block of forward view and unable to properly adjust. Comfortable (carbon) seats, although less padding and unheated. Controls laid out well. Impressive fuel economy at 65-70 that falls off rapidly with higher speeds or acceleration bursts. Under hood is very hot, even on mild days, radiating heat and off-gassing. Bluetooth interface has to be relaunched with each start and difficult to switch between users. Radar detector is obnoxious - still trying to figure out how to turn off. Highly recommend checking lithium battery condition prior to purchase - replacement is $7K. Moderate road noise with some carbon fiber chassis creaking on rougher roads. Stiffly sprung so poor roads/construction are a bit jolting. Oddly, only one illumination from headlights - can't toggle between low and bright. Have been flashed so they might be on bright all the time. Hate to think of diagnosis/repair cost. Surprisingly inexpensive to insure. Overall, this is an incredible vehicle for the money whose body shape seems timeless.
