An atypical experience...
November 6, 2018
Over the course of the years, I've purchased a fair amount of vehicles but most have been from larger dealerships. The only other experience we had at a smaller dealership, in Apalachin NY, was quite negative. Eric and David at Bodine Motors were great and this was a refreshing experience. First of all the vehicle was great. It was everything we were looking for. There were a few things we wanted to have done and one thing that it turned out not to have that they originally said it did, but that was an honest and simple mistake. They worked with us on the things we wanted done and we worked out a fair solution. As for the purchase process, it was easy and smooth. We got there late and David stayed late to work with us on things to get the paperwork squared away. We had to come back the following day to pick up the vehicle because of the things we wanted done to it and because of vehicle registration but they made sure it was all taken care of, freshly washed and ready to go for us. Probably the most refreshing part was the fact that it wasn't the typical cloak and dagger experience of mystery and deceit that often takes place at used car dealerships. No writing numbers on paper and sliding it across the table after sitting for 20 minutes while the salesman talks to the "sales manager". I don't have the time or the desire to deal with that nonsense, so this was an excellent change. As my wife and I discussed the experience afterward, we asked each other what, if anything, could have been done better. Honestly, neither of us could come up with anything. Sure, everyone wants the best price they can get. We'd all take the car for free if we could get it. In reality though, it's about what fair and reasonable on both sides. As buyers we want a fair price and if we were the seller, we'd want a fair deal also. So, at the end of they day, I believe that's how it came together.
Thanks guys for a great vehicle and a great experience.
