2020 Hyundai Sonata: Everything You Need to Know

The mid-size sedan class may be contracting, but it still accounts for a lot of sales and a few automakers not only are staying in the game but churning out redesigned and refreshed models, such as the Subaru Legacy, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Volkswagen Passat. And now they’re joined by the redesigned 2020 Hyundai Sonata that made its U.S. debut last spring at the 2019 New York International Auto Show.

This was no half-hearted effort. The 2020 Sonata gets a dramatic styling makeover outside and inside, a more efficient base powertrain and newly available high-tech features such as a digital key. The 2020 also marks a return of the Sonata’s design mojo. In 2011, Hyundai’s mid-sizer showed that mainstream sedans didn’t need to be frumpy, but then a meek 2015 Sonata redo proved they still could be; the 2020 model returns to higher style.
Hyundai says it will also add a redesigned Sonata Hybrid to the lineup in 2020. The current model has regular and plug-in gas-electric hybrids.
