Here are three things to know about the 2022 GMC Terrain:
1. Updated Styling
Outside, the 2022 Terrain wears revised LED headlights and taillights, a more rugged-looking grille, and new 18- and 19-inch wheel designs.
Inside, GMC says the Terrain will get updated fabrics and interior trim choices, though it did not yet release specifics on materials.
2. New Tech Features
New for 2022 is standard wireless integration for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Amazon Alexa integration. A new head-up display is available on SLT and AT4 trims and standard on the top trim level, the Denali. Denali versions also get a standard 8-inch driver information display.
3. What Hasn’t Changed
The Terrain still uses a standard 170-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission; an uprated 2.0-liter turbo engine was discontinued for model-year 2021. (After a similar one-year absence, a turbo 2.0-liter option returned to the Terrain’s GM sibling, the delayed 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. There’s no word on whether GMC’s variant will get it again.)
As with 2021’s version, the GMC Pro Safety suite is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and automatic high-beam headlights. Denali versions add front and rear parking sensors and unique suspension tuning to the suite.
The 2022 GMC Terrain’s SLE, SLT and AT4 trims will go on sale in the summer, followed by the Denali in the fall.
