Volkswagen Previews New SUV

CARS.COM — News has been dribbling out about Volkswagen’s new mid-size SUV for years and today the automaker released a teaser video ahead of the vehicle’s debut later this week. Although its styling remains under wraps — the new SUV wears camouflage in the video — VW released a few key details.

Designers said the new SUV is based on the CrossBlue concept that debuted in 2013, but the production model will be bigger and bolder. Product manager Jim Burch says the new SUV will have seating for seven with a fully functional third row as well as provide easy access to the second and third rows. Based on the video, it also appears the new SUV will be off-road ready.
