I read his reviews, gave him a call, and when dealerships in my area failed he came through for me and my family. We drove 4.5 hours from Las Vegas to work with him and we were extremely pleased with his service and professionalism. Thank you for helping us purchase our dream vehicle!

Add Chapman PHX "add-on" dealer list

Costs which aren't mentioned until the end of negotiations: Nitrogen filled tires, overpriced ceramic tint, overpriced bed liner, useless etched glass and "Kahu recovery (? whatever that is ?) will tack on $2500-$3000 to your "deal". A higher than standard doc fee of $499 adds even more to the bottom line. These items aren't brought up until after the negotiation process. Just be upfront with the fees from the beginning as not all dealers play this game and it's a waste of time and earns negative reviews such as this. Sticking to luxury dealerships or private party from here out.

Disappointed, Thank you for your review, we appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention. We apologize you did not feel the fees were properly explained, we will discuss with our entire sales staff and use your comments as a teaching opportunity. However; The fees are disclosed on our website to ensure we are doing our best to be transparent. In response to the other dealers in the valley not having additional fees, I believe you may be misinformed. If you would like to speak with us further and move forward in a positive direction, please feel free to give us a call at 480-425-5902. Jamie Palmisano

Friendly Transaction

Friendly transaction. Truthfully would not have purchased except of the places we'd checked they had exactly the model vehicle with low mileage that my wife wanted.

Liars, rude and a waste of time

We had leased from Chapman Ford for 8 years and when we went to turn the last one in, they had added a bunch of fees for going over mileage, etc. That’s fine. We asked how they could work with the fees and they said they would if we bought a car from them. Long story short, I bought a car from Chapman Dodge, but the salesman was from Chapman Ford – Amy Merrill. She said I could buy from another dealership and they would partner the two dealerships together basically. Originally I went in and told them it wasn’t the right time to buy the car with the numbers they presented me and I said we’d be back in a few months. When negotiating price, I told Amy I would ONLY buy the car if they made sure the fees being owed to Chapman Ford didn’t exceed $3k. She agreed, wrote a “3” at the bottom of the paper to ensure this was part of the deal, and I signed. She said, and I quote, “if the fees are any more we will EAT them”. I should have had her write all of this out but I was being nice and also didn’t think they would manipulate me and screw me over. Not more than a few minutes after I signed, she started back pedaling, saying it would be closer to $3200. So whatever, I said it was fine but nothing over that. When I left, I texted her (so I have proof of this) saying we never signed anything to lock in that anything over $3200 would be covered by Ford. She said she would calculate the fees for me right then and boom she quoted me $3100 actually. Sounded great, right? When I sat down to sign off on the old lease, the fees were $3700. I spoke to Amy about it, who basically said “sorry there’s nothing we can do”. She said she “didn’t know” there were payments left and we should have known that so she could factor it in. What- shouldn’t you/the dealership have checked that and shouldn’t you have made sure your numbers are right? I spoke to Dave multiple times, the GSM at Chapman Ford, who told me he wanted to resolve my issue. I sent him the texts I had from Amy and he even admitted it looked bad on their part. Long story short, whatever Amy ended up telling him he sided with and told me he couldn’t help me. He even said that there was “no proof Amy said we would eat and fees over $3k” So he accused me of lying and I’m kicking myself I didn’t make her write out everything. Amy knew my situation and knew it was important I get the numbers I wanted. She fed me everything she needed to in order to get me to sign. If I was presented with these numbers at the beginning of the sale, it would not have happened, period. I was so frustrated I wanted to take the car back to Chapman Dodge. Ford dismissed me and passed me to Dodge, so I sat down with Walter, Dodge’s GSM, who said he wanted to make it right. He went and spoke to Ford for me who told me they “weren’t very nice” but that they offered to cut a check for $250 and Dodge would cut a check for $250 to cover some of the fees. I never saw the money from Ford and I never heard anything from them. At least Dodge held up their end and will be giving me the $250. Buying a new car should be fun and exciting but Ford will make sure you feel the opposite. I’m so disappointed.

Hi Ay2 Thank you for your review of our store. We apologize that there have obviously been some misunderstandings. As discussed with our General Sales Manager, the documents signed and the text messages between you and the sales associate do not indicate there was ever an agreement for us to absorb your lease-end fees. We have agreed to issue a goodwill check to attempt to satisfy you as we always want our clients to have an exceptional experience. It appears our attempt to satisfy you has not been successful and for that, we greatly apologize. Should you like to come in and discuss your transaction, review the documents or text messages we have supporting our position, please give me a call to set up a time to meet. Best regards, Jamie Palmisano

Consumer response

The reply Chapman Ford left is inaccurate and they're trying to cover up what they did. The salesman did not tell me they would eat the fees over text, it was in person, which I don't have proof of. That is why I said I wish I would have had her write it out or record it. They say things verbally so they don't get caught when they don't honor it.

thumbs up

A Deal Done Right! Well done!

We recently purchased a Ford fusion Energi with the help of Dedrick and the rest of the team. We had a wonderful experience and are extremely pleased with our purchase. We feel we were treated fairly, professionally and with respect at all times. We will definitely be back for future purchases. Well done!
