Excellent, very friendly and professional staff.
From the initial contact via email Glenn Patterson was great to work with. Very knowledgeable, helpful. nice, and very professional. Was quick to respond to any questions and find out answer for anything he didn't know. Even went above and beyond on dealing with spare tire. First phone call at which he was on the way out to a kids game and was willing to have someone meet me spoke volumes. Family first says a lot about a person and he was still able to do that and take care of client. I will defiantly recommend Glenn @ JM Jeep to anyone I run across. Finance person (cant remember name but have his card..lol) was excellent as well. New his products well and respected time constraint I was in. Total time to come and close everything was 1 to 1.25 hours. Awesome!!

My wife and I went to Joe Machens Jeep as my wife was wanting a Jeep and we had done business with Joe Machens Ford in both Columbia and Jefferson City with great results. We test drove a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee. While my wife was driving I read the owners manual and found that you could get a Cherokee with 4500 Lbs capacity tow rating. When we returned to the dealership, I explained to the salesman I would be interested in a Cherokee that could tow 4500lbs. He brought a new Jeep Cherokee out, and it had the 2" receiver and trailer light connections. We test drove it, seemed fine, made the deal, drove away a couple of hours later, without a second key or owners manual. They were promised to be in the mail, as well as a license plate from a trade. After waiting a week and a few un-returned phone calls, we returned to the dealership and were told they would be along in the mail. I managed to obtain the plate on the trade as it was never removed. Another week went by. after several un returned phone calls from the salesman, I spoke with a sales manager. He said he would check into the situation and get our key and owner manual to us. Another week went by. I called and spoke with a different sales manager. He said he would order a key and schedule an appointment for the next Saturday after the key came in so it could be programmed. After waiting another week, and finding out that the Jeep we were given by the salesman while having a tow package, it was a 4 cylinder with only a 2000lb rating, not the 4500lbs I had requested, I called and spoke with the sales manager again, he had forgotten about the situation. Said we could come up the next Saturday and have it programmed and get our owners manual. I had to work that Saturday, my wife drove ( it's 100 miles one way) up and while they sent to the service department, upon her checking in the sales manager comes into the service department with the original key he found in the original vehicle envelope, gave her the key, and sent her on her way, with NO OWNERS MANUAL. So now I have a 2017 Jeep Cherokee with a 2000lbs towing capacity and no owners manual. I feel ripped off in a HUGE way. and Oh, yeah, by the way, we were told they would cover the gas for the return trip, and yep, that was BS as well. If you EVER buy a Jeep, don't buy from Joe Machens!

Good dealership experience
I picked my car from Cars.com, used the Availabilty feature to open a dialogue with the sales staff and the CarFax to determine the vehicle had been well maintained. I live two hours from Columbia so I got there at 7:00 for a test drive. I had a salesman assigned to me, Jesse, did an excellent job, knew the vehicle inside and out, came with us on the test drive and answered all our questions as we went. We came pre-approved for financing through the credit union so the purchase went smoothly. Heath and Jesse stayed well after closing to accommodate us, so five stars on customer service. Everything was clean and neat and they had soda, coffee, and tea on tap, so five stars for the facilities. The snag was in the paperwork. The Machens chain of dealerships apparently has a central office that keeps the titles and they don't routinely keep a copy of it with the sales paperwork. My credit union needed a copy of the title and release of any liens. It took till Monday to get the title faxed to the credit union and it turned out they did not have the release letter for the lien on the title. I have been waiting a week and a half for everything to get where it needs to go, so I give four stars for buying process. I have trusted the dealership not to send my check to the bank all this time, so there's a mutual trust here that you won't find from most businesses, so I rate their overall five stars despite the minor frustration. If I had to do it all over again, I would make sure they had a copy of the title and lien release with the purchase paperwork before I went to test drive the car. But it's really a minor inconvenience and my wife and I were extremely happy with the sales and purchase staff, the quality of the vehicle and the price, and the facilities we experienced.
