Although prices for late-model used cars have recently jumped, Cars.com has assembled a healthy list of choices available for a budget of about $20,000.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Consumer Reports have released their annual list of recommended vehicles for teens, and the 2024 list offers more safety for less, as used- and new-car prices stabilize.

A slew of SUVs have spotty headlight performance, the Insurance Institute 
 for Highway Safety said. Just two out of 37 models had top scores.

Luxury SUV shoppers will have an updated 2018 Lexus NX to check out 
 later this year; it hits dealerships likely this fall.
