According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Volvo 
 has agreed to pay a $1.5 million penalty to settle the charge.

For its summer sales event, Volvo offers longer free-maintenance plans on 
 2013 models and allowing buyers to waive payments on 2012 models.
