The interior boasts a standard 11.3-inch touchscreen but is plagued by hard plastic surfaces and limited rear legroom. Expert 2025 Chevrolet Colorado review

Our expert's take
By Cars.com Editors
Full article

What Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

The Chevrolet Colorado is a mid-size pickup truck offered solely in a crew-cab configuration with a 5-foot-2-inch cargo bed. Power is provided by a 310-horsepower, turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces a stout 430 pounds-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive optional. Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2 trims have off-road-focused features; the flagship ZR2 Bison comes with massive 35-inch all-terrain tires, a wider front and rear track, steel underbody skid plates, a winch-capable front bumper, power-locking front and rear differentials, and 12.2 inches of ground clearance. The Colorado has a maximum tow rating of 7,700 pounds, which is more than direct rivals like the Ford Ranger, Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma. The GMC Canyon is a pricier, upmarket version of the Colorado.

What’s New on the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

All Colorados have the 310-hp, 2.7-liter engine for 2025 (lower trims used to have a 237-hp version of the same engine). Other alterations include new exterior colors, a Midnight Edition Package for off-road-oriented trims and additional standard equipment on some trims.

What Features in the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 11.3-inch touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • 11-inch digital instrument display
  • 17-inch wheels
  • Cloth upholstery
  • Satellite radio
  • Two USB ports
  • Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Rear-seat reminder
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Lane departure steering assist

Available features include:

  • Full-time four-wheel drive
  • Underbody skid plates
  • Front and rear locking differentials
  • All-terrain tires
  • Heated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Leather upholstery
  • Rear USB ports
  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Blind spot warning

Should I Buy the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

The Chevrolet Colorado is a versatile, hard-working mid-size truck that can be built for all sorts of driving needs. Anyone looking for a basic mid-size truck with a reasonable price tag will be happy with the base WT trim. Scaling up to a Trail Boss, Z71 or ZR2 model gives the Colorado excellent off-road credentials and should appeal to adventure-seeking truck shoppers. There are some hard plastics throughout the interior, however, and backseat legroom is skimpy — don’t plan on seating long-limbed adults back there for any length of time.

  • My 2025 Chevy Colorado is fun to drive.

My 2025 Chevy Colorado is fun to drive. The ZR1 engine has plenty of power considering it’s a four-cylinder engine. I am very much a person who prefers an eight cylinder when it comes to a truck. I was pleasantly surprised when I drove this truck with a four-cylinder engine. This truck has a lot of power and get up and go, especially when it comes to passing other vehicles. My firstb experience at passing in a vehicle in his truck surprised when I hit the gas and I wound up surging forward in my seat. The interior of the truck is very comfortable and ete appealing. The instrumentation panel is easy to read. So far the truck is very dependable

  • We have loved the truck so far!

We have loved the truck so far! It provides all our family needs between using it for moving and light hauling purposes while still being able to carry two kids when needed. It's been a pleasure to drive as a commuting vehicle with the 2.7L turbomax engine and is fun day after day. The only item that I'm not crazy about is how the headlamps are only accessible thru the vehicles computer system without having an actual knob but that seems to be most newer vehicles nowdays.
