Expert 2025 Chevrolet Trax review

our expert's take

our expert's take

What Is the 2025 Chevrolet Trax?

The Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact five-seat SUV that’s focused on sporty styling and exceptional value for the money. Despite its relatively small footprint, the Trax also stands out for providing adult-friendly levels of headroom and legroom in both the front and back seats. The rear cargo area is also larger than what other city-sized SUVs provide. The sole drivetrain is a 137-horsepower, turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Unlike most subcompact SUV rivals, the Trax isn’t available with all-wheel drive. Competitors include the Honda HR-V, Kia Soul, Nissan Kicks and Volkswagen Taos.

What’s New on the 2025 Chevrolet Trax?

After a complete redesign last year, the Trax enters the 2025 model year with no significant changes.

What Features in the 2025 Chevrolet Trax Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 8-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Forward collision warning with pedestrian detection
  • Lane-centering steering
  • Lane departure warning
  • Rear-seat reminder

Available features include:

  • 11-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • 8-inch digital instrument panel
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Heated front seats
  • Keyless start
  • Remote start
  • Automatic climate control
  • Synthetic leather upholstery
  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • Wireless charging pad

Should I Buy the 2025 Chevrolet Trax?

The Chevrolet Trax will appeal to SUV shoppers who are on a tight budget but still want something stylish; Chevrolet did a commendable job giving this second-generation Trax a much more vibrant and youthful appearance. However, the turbo three-cylinder engine provides only modest acceleration, and the lack of available AWD could deter some buyers. At least EPA-estimated fuel economy is a reasonable 30 mpg in a mix of city and highway driving. By and large, the Trax is very nicely equipped, with tech touches you’d expect in a more expensive vehicle. It has a generous amount of space inside, and its size makes it highly adept at zipping through traffic.

  • I purchased a 2025 Trax RS and thus far I really love it

I purchased a 2025 Trax RS and thus far I really love it . The redesigned look is very sporty. Sure it doesn’t have a ton of fancy features like my suburban but I was looking for a second car good on gas and convenient to drive . It is very nice on inside and plenty of room .

  • I purchase my Chevy Trax in Sept2024.

I purchase my Chevy Trax in Sept2024. And it’s been in the shop back and forward since Dec2024 till now! This is a horribly made car. I have transmission issue, back camera gone out, speakers not working , dome light electric problems, car cuts off while driving , alternor gone out. I wish I would have never purchased this car. It was brand new with 100 miles on it.

  • Well let's start with my 1st check engine light-purge

Well let's start with my 1st check engine light-purge pump going at only 4000 miles. Dealership replaced purge pump. Then we will jump to the back up camera not working and being replaced at 5300 miles. Dealership replaced back up camera. Fast forward to 7000 miles- radio no longer works and my phone will not connect. Dealership-updated radio. 10,000 miles- now once again the radio does not work and the car will not connect to my phone. Dealership replacing radio. Bottom line is do not buy this vehicle. I bought it bc it was what I could afford. Biggest mistake of my life!! I Will never buy another chevy again. Dealership will only go as far as warranty to help you. And I was told I could call GM, but they would tell me there was nothing they could do for me by the dealership. I explained I was losing money at work to have to continuously bring the car back to keep getting fixed. The gentleman at the dealership shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. Please be smart and don't buy this vehicle!!

My wife and I had decided not to trade this year but changed our mind once we saw and drove the Trax. Price was outstanding and it had the updated looks and features we expected in a new vehicle. It's ride was better than expected and drive ability outstanding.

  • It’s ok for the price but I’m just not really impressed

It’s ok for the price but I’m just not really impressed with it. It would probably be ideal for a teenager or college student. It’s not that comfortable and I’m used to AWD so performance wise I’m not impressed. It basically is a 4 door Camaro to me but with a lot of great safety features. Not having an automatic lift gate or even a trunk button at all was extremely disappointing for me.

My wife and I each drove a 2021 Chevy Trax - hers was white and mine was blue - and the dealer called us to see if we'd be interested in trading up. I drove to the dealership and test drove the new 2025 Trax while they did their appraisal on my car. The new Trax was such an overall improvement compared to the 2021 that, not only did I make the trade on my car, my wife was so impressed that she sent me back to the dealership to make the same deal on hers as well!

  • We own two other GM products.

We own two other GM products. I was getting service at our local dealership and heard a customer Raving about the Chevy TRAX. While waiting, I decided to test drive a TRAX. Could Not believe the performance from this 1.2 litre Turbocharged engine. The interior is Large and has more amenities than you would ever need. At a list price of 24,500 and 30+ mpg it's an unbelievable Value! Didn't really Need a new vehicle but I bought it and I can't get my Wife out of it. We both love this vehicle. Gonna sell one of the other two mainly because they don't get driven because we always get in the TRAX. I Highly Recommend this vehicle to All age groups. Affordable, Safe, Economical and if you need storage space, this is the Best out there at an unbelievable Price Point. You can buy with confidence....
