In 2018, I purchased my 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan for our family car (4 children). After owning the van a couple of years, one sliding back passenger door became permanently stuck in the "closed" position. There was nothing we could do to release the door (manual setting did not work either). The only option was to pay around $800 to have the defective lock actuator in the door fixed, so we tried to adapt by only loading through one sliding door/one side of the back seat. This was difficult and inconvenient. The car was well past the original 36,000 mile warranty, and the Dodge company would not recognize the problem as a recall. Eventually the second door became stuck closed in the exact same manner. When researching online, I saw that this was a common problem for Dodge Caravan owners. I completed a recall request through the NHTSA. In the Spring of 2025, Dodge offered an extended warranty to provide the repair of this issue in its passenger doors, but the company excluded any vehicles over the 100,000 mile mark. Although my doors originally became locked "closed" well before 100,000. miles, my van was now well over that mileage. I contacted the company (calls and letter) to request that my vehicle be included in the repairs through the warranty program, but I was denied. I'm left to pay $1600 to repair the lock actuators if I want to safely regain the use of my vehicle for passengers. The company will not put the safety of its customers and their passengers first. This defective lock actuators are a critical safety concern, as customers cannot predict the moment at which this part will fail. Passengers could become trapped inside the vehicle if an accident were to occur. I have made numerous major mechanical repairs to my van (including a new transmission around 100,000 miles), and I understand that many makes and models have their flaws. However, I expected that Dodge would back safety concerns in their product.

Not a more useful car ever built.

Not a more useful car ever built. Easily tows a seadoo ski boat, fold the second In third row seats down and this van swallows a 120 in wingspan remote control giant scale stop with biplane on the weekends. It is truly an amazing piece of engineering!

Trouble shooting. Why would a car with only 74000

This vehicle has been very good for my wife and myself love the hidden storage compartments. Having only 74000 plus miles on it. It is now getting broken in . However, we got into our car today it would not start. Battery was good. Mechanic I am not. It appears to be a censor. Had to call a tow truck to take my vehicle to a car dealer. Will not know the results until Monday, 13th, 2023

Very Happy

I bought it used in September, 2018, and it already had 45,000 miles. Was concerned that it had such high mileage after only 18 months but it's been great. Can haul stuff w/out worrying about weather, then put up seats for family. Am at 120k miles now and no regrets. Still very impressive looking vehicle, too. Will keep this as long as I can.

Hello

I just cannot see the reason not to have the convenience of a minivan .Automatic lockable Sliding doors to keep the kiddies safe and automatic tailgate..Then you get to use it for your trucking needs..where else can a 4x8 sheet and numerous 2x4s and tools all protected from the weather be transported for your home projects..oh and dont forget the fishing poles you have to bend double to fit in the average pickup or suv...its a no brainer...

Not with it

I purchased my 2017 grand caravan in 2019. It had one user, mileage was only 40,000. By 80,000 miles the transmission went out and now the motor started ticking at 92,000. Not worth the headache. This was my first American made car and my last!!!

Very reliable van

I don’t understand the complaints about reliability. Our Grand Caravan has 120,000 miles and the only unscheduled maintenance was for CD player. Pretty comfortable for long distance traveling with a consistent 25 mpg highway. Lots of room for people who like to take a lot of stuff on their travels. Would buy this van again
