Expert 2023 Genesis GV70 review

our expert's take

What Is the 2023 Genesis GV70?

The 2023 Genesis GV70 is a five-seat luxury compact SUV that competes with rivals like the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Cadillac XT5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. All-wheel drive is standard on every GV70, and the base engine is a 300-horsepower turbo four-cylinder coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For added punch, an available twin-turbo V-6 produces 375 hp.

What’s New on the 2023 Genesis GV70?

The 2023 Genesis GV70 carries over largely unchanged from the previous model year. There are a few new exterior colors (Makalu Gray, Makalu Gray Matte and Capri Blue), and Sport models get new red-painted brake calipers. The 2.5T Sport Prestige trim now comes with tri-zone climate control and a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.

What Features in the 2023 Genesis GV70 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 14.5-inch touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Synthetic leather seats
  • Heated front seats
  • Satellite radio
  • Navigation
  • Wireless device charging
  • Rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot warning
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Safe-exit assist
  • Driver-drowsiness monitor

Available features include:

  • 21-inch alloy wheels
  • 16-speaker Lexicon stereo
  • Heated and cooled front seats
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Surround-view parking camera
  • Leather seating surfaces
  • Tri-zone climate control
  • Head-up instrument display

Should I Buy the 2023 Genesis GV70?

The Genesis GV70 is a smart choice for anyone who wants a luxury SUV that’s relaxing to drive and features a wide range of standard features. Passenger and cargo space aren’t exactly class-leading, however, so keep that in mind if you often use every available inch of legroom or trunk space. The interior is attractive and modern-looking, though the touchscreen is positioned a little further from the driver than would be ideal. On the plus side, the GV70 undercuts the price of many key rivals even when you start climbing trims and adding option packages.

  • Leaky Radiator

This is truly a nice car but the radiator is mounted low on the front ,made of nothing more than plastic like a swimming pool, and can perforate very easily causing a $2000 repair not covered by the warranty. If you live in the north with snow and ice you should not buy this car for you will get leaks. Your other option is mounting a piece of chicken wire on the front as suggested to me by the dealer.

  • Pass over the Genisus for a better dealer network

The car was in shop for almost 3 weeks with a rear differential problem and took 3 trips to 2 different dealers and had to get Genisus US to get some help. Dealerships are a joke with waiting times for an oil change 30 or more days to get done. I have owned many high-end cars and dollar for dollar the car is overpriced and lack of a good dealership, buy a car that has a good dealer network and pass up the Genisus - Huyandi auto Co.

  • This Car Sets a New Standard!

So far a wonderful car. Far better ride than my wife's Lexus NX 200t, or my former Cadillac SRX or Jaguar XF. Interior styling is a big win and the best among competitors at this size and price. Exterior styling is a little too 'blingy' for my style but is otherwise fine. Living in Arizona, air conditioning is most important and this car has a wonderful A/C system! So cold that I have to turn down the fan speed after a couple of minutes. And the Lexicon audio system is superb! Another reviewer commented on the touch screen being too far away from the driver, and while that might be right, you can control everything from the steering wheel or control knob right next to the center console. 300 HP from the base engine is more than enough, but if you want to really move there is always the bigger engine available. Overall a wonderful car!

  • Would not recommend

Cheaply made car for the price, you would be better off just buying a Hyundai than Genesis since it is the exact same and you get the exact same quality of customer service (which is horrible)
