This is the best truck I have owned so far. I have a 2014 1500 Sierra double cab with the Z71 4x4 package with the 5.3 engine. This engine is plenty powerful for what you need it to do. It has the best gas mileage in it's class so far. The ride quality is smooth like Ram's ride quality and not bouncy and choppy like the Tundra that I had before that. The truck is well designed on the inside and outside and I love the usb ports and light inside the center storage compartment. I love the side steps on the bumper as well as the cargo bed lights. The infotainment center is very nice as well and I have not had any problems so far with it. It paired my Apple iPhone 6 with ease. I love the Sierra's design over Silverado's design since Sierra has a more upscale look. I wished the truck would have come with an under seat storage in the back like most brands have. Buying a gear box at my local truck accessory store took care of that. If there is one thing that GM could do as well as other manufacturers out there and that is please do not put Goodyear Wrangler SRA tires on these trucks. The SRA tires ride rough and have mediocre traction and are not designed for a pick up, SUV maybe, but not a pick up. I replaced the tires with Hankook Dynapro ATM which have excellent traction and smooth ride. This is a worthy truck to own. It is also handy if you have a GM Capital One card which will earn you discounts on GM vehicles. It helped me out.

I've had this truck for a little over 2 months now (1980 miles currently). I was concerned about the mpg's initially but at around 1,000 miles it just took off and I'm consistently getting 22-23 highway in the 5.3 V8. Just think "smooth" when you're taking off and keep a couple of extra pounds of pressure in the tires. I think GM missed the boat on a couple other small things, like the bed lighting button. It should give a tell, as in show something on the button itself when it's on. It doesn't (but it does have a 10 minute shut off). And the button itself should be on the fob as you're usually out of the truck when you need the light. Just had a recall today (4-7-14) for a transmission cooler line. Evidently they can leak and fail. Not good. I know of an older model (07) Silverado where one of these failed and it was a mess and over $6K to fix. All the criticisms I've read of the entertainment system is true. The swipe motion and favorites and the touchscreen in general just isn't very responsive. But I've seen the F150's and that's worse. Plus I've my smartphone sync more than once. The voice commands generally work well. There is a terrible gap surrounding the tail gate and at the upper front corners. I have a folding soft cover that's pretty tight on top but the water and dirt still get in. If I lived on a dusty road or something I'd look into sealing it better somehow. Thinking about a piece of duct tape inside under the cover at the front corners (won't show anyway). Having said all that I'm still happy with my purchase. Rides smooth and quiet. And after only two months of winter driving I feel it handles the ice and snow as well as anything I've ever driven (General Grabber tires). I ended up with those tires after the dealer had to go the next town over to get the exact equipment I wanted on the truck. However, they've been solid performers, smooth and quiet. Have not been off road at all yet. Waiting for hunting season for that.

I am only three weeks into owning this 2014 Sierra 1500, SLE package, and am thrilled at its engine perfomance, styling, comfort, quietness, and handling. Having owned two Silverados prior to now, obviously I am a big fan of the big GM truck. But I beleive that the value engineering in the Sierra is better than Silverado, though the latter truck is no slouch either. I would not waste money on the SLT package though, the SLE has plenty of neat features and you can save some money . PS Thank God for the backup camera, it has already saved me once from disaster.

Just what I needed

Everything in this truck is well done. Ride is so comfortable. What an improvement. Dash is easy to operate. Not fond of the headlights but that is the only fault. Great buy

I've had my 2014 5.3L SLT 4X4 Crew for about a week now and I love it. I've had an F-150, Frontier, Tacoma, Ranger but none of these compare to this truck. It is almost perfect. It rides like a Cadillac and it is very practical as a family car. The only thing I don't like is the city driving. I'm averaging 13.5 mpg on the street while mostly driving uphill. Downhill street driving averages about 17mpg. Freeway driving averages about 21-22 which is great for a V8. The truck has the power there when you need it as well. I hope I'm not affected by the recalls on this model. One thing I have noticed is on speed bumps it bounces quiet a bit. Overall it I'm very happy with my purchase.

This was the type of truck I was hoping for. When they came out, I was all over it. Love the convenience inside, along with the interior. Still not quite in love with how the seat feels, but it has multiple adjustments. Maybe it just needs to be broken in? Owned my last extended cab for 9 years, and simply loved sitting in the seat, it was that comfortable to me. The gas mileage my new crew cab gets is fantastic, and still have the power available as needed. The seat in the rear is comfortable, legroom is awesome. Overall, I love this truck. Great color my wife picked out.

First of all, let me just say I LOVE my new truck! It is the fully loaded 4x4 Crew Cab SLT with the All-Terrain package, and it is gorgeous and extremely comfortable and quiet. There are a ton of things that I love about this truck, obviously, or I wouldn't have shelled out $50K for it (these trucks are expensive!) This truck replaced my 2011 Sierra SLE Crew Cab, and this thing is a huge improvement. Having said all that, there are a few things that I was unimpressed with. Most of them have to do with the infotainment system. Hopefully GM will fix them in the near future. 1. There is no separate dimmer for the infotainment system. The navigation system can overwhelm the driver while the gauge cluster is so dim you can barely see it. 2. The infotainment system does not have climate control features (Ram's does) 3. There are no downloadable apps. The owners manual hints that there are, but I beg to differ. Maybe these will come with an update? 4. The navigation is slow and does not predict your entry as you type (my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer's navigation system was much faster and easier to use) 5. The touchscreen is not very responsive. Simple gestures like swipe or drag are nearly impossible to execute on the screen. 6. The Bose system is amazing! But it doesn't extend to the rear seats. All of the great sounding bass is in the front speakers, which makes me wonder if the rear speakers are amplified at all, or if they are even Bose. 7. The favorites buttons on the back of the steering wheel are annoying. You have to push it once to enter the "favorites selection" mode and then push it again within a couple seconds to actually change the station to the next favorite. If I push the button up or down, it should immediately change the station forward or backward (like any other car I've driven) 8. The pause, rewind, and fast forward feature is a really cool idea, but in practice it's not as helpful as it could be. If you pause the station to run in to the gas station or something, you lose whatever you were listening to. The second you take the key out of the ignition and open the door, the system stops recording and the memory resets. 9. The convex mirror is tiny and useless. And it is only on the driver side. 10. The key/keyfob is archaic. Why is the keyfob still separate from the key? They key itself is flimsy and cheap looking. And, there is no push button. Every other manufacturer seems to be replacing keys with a push button and a transponder key. I'm not sure how the designers at GM missed the memo. Finally, like I said, I LOVE my truck. The takeaway here is that these trucks are fantastic, and you have to be really nit-picky to find problems with it, but in my humble opinion, there are a few things that I really hope GM fixes to make them even better.

I bought the loaded 1500 SLT replacing my 2009 2500 Silverado LTZ. I really loved that truck and wish now I had kept it. The only reason I went out and got a new one was due to the gas mileage I was getting with the 6.0L. Huh? Wrong! I am getting 12.5 mpg in city (I was getting about 11.5 with my 6.0L. I have read many reviews saying that the mileage is great, maybe something is wrong (I did speak to my dealer and he said to bring it in after 2000 miles if it's still getting poor mileage.....almost there). I even use the supreme fuel. The key fob is huge, the steering controls (for the fingers) sit much higher than the old GM's. My phone contacts sometimes don't sink....sometimes they do? My seat heater doesn't work but my lower seat back does fine (taking it to the dealer). The heaters don't come on with the remote start either. My doors really have to be slammed to shut, not much room to access the door pockets while sitting in the seat.....very tight. Lighting inside is okay but could use lights on the floor. The drivers seat seems to be loose, not sure how to explain. It is also very noisy, the leather rubbing the plastic holders that are at the front corners of the seat. Otherwise, not a bad truck for $50,000.

We bought a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT Crew and have about 4500 miles on it so far. We've towed 3 ATV's and a Dirt Bike through the mountains and didn't have any issues. The integrated Grade Breaking that's automatic worked great in downshifting with each tap of the break. Tow Haul mode also worked well. Additionally we took the truck to Wyoming for hunting. It averaged 19.1 MPG for the total of 1000 miles. Nearly 400 of these miles were off road through and the highway miles were at 80+ MPH so I consider that a huge win. The only gripes I have (which aren't really anything to complain about) are that it doesn't have blind spot detection other than a small circular mirror and that it doesn't show remaining gas in Gallons on the DIC. It does show remaining miles but I wish it had Gallons used like our previous Sierra.
