Kia has its electrification bases covered with the Niro, selling the compact hatchback as a hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicle. For 2026, nothing changes with the Niro EV, which is more than $12,000 more expensive than the base Niro Hybrid.

Release Date and Pricing
The 2026 Kia Niro EV will go on sale later this year. The base Niro EV Wind starts at $41,195, and the uplevel Wave is priced from $46,195.
Trim Levels and Safety Features
On the entry-level Niro EV Wind, Kia’s Drive Wise safety suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, navigation-based adaptive cruise control that can adjust speed in anticipation of upcoming curves, lane-centering steering, lane departure warning and steering assist, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams and rear parking sensors.
Other standard features on the Wind include keyless entry and start, 17-inch wheels, a heated windshield, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated side mirrors, LED taillights and a power liftgate. Inside, you’ll find heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat and dual-zone automatic climate control. Cabin tech consists of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, six speakers, and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Niro EV Wave is differentiated by chrome and gloss-black exterior trim in place of the Wind’s silver and matte black, as well as LED front lighting and a moonroof. Inside, it features perforated synthetic leather upholstery, a power front-passenger seat, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, aluminum pedals and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. The Wave also adds Kia’s hands-on Highway Driving Assist 2 semi-autonomous driving technology, blind spot intervention, front parking sensors and automated parking.
Powertrain Specs and Range
The only powertrain available in the Niro EV is a single electric motor driving the front wheels; it generates 201 horsepower and 188 pounds-feet of torque. A 64.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack provides an EPA-rated range of 253 miles.
