What Is the 2025 Lexus LX?
The Lexus LX is a luxury full-size SUV that seats five people in its standard two-row form, four with the second-row captain’s chairs in the Ultra Luxury trim and seven with the available third row. The LX is the largest, priciest, poshest SUV in Lexus’ lineup, riding on the same body-on-frame platform as the Toyota Sequoia three-row SUV and the full-size Toyota Tundra pickup truck.
The LX 600 is powered by a 409-horsepower, 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The LX 700h comes with a hybrid version of the twin-turbo V-6 that makes 457 hp and 583 pounds-feet of torque.
Trim levels ascend through Premium, Luxury, F Sport, off-road-oriented Overtrail and flagship Ultra Luxury versions; the last two are exclusive to the LX 700h. Four-wheel drive is standard on all models. The F Sport has a sport-tuned suspension, limited-slip differential, and sporty design touches inside and out. The flagship Ultra Luxury carries a price premium of more than $40,000 over the base model; it includes upgraded cabin trim, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, and reclining second-row captain’s chairs with ventilation and massage. The LX’s competitors include the Cadillac Escalade, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Land Rover Range Rover, Lincoln Navigator and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class.
What’s New on the 2025 Lexus LX?
The LX 700h hybrid variant and its exclusive Overtrail trim are new for 2025; the Overtrail adds 18-inch wheels, 33-inch all-terrain tires, front and rear locking differentials, and a front underbody skid plate. The rest of the LX lineup receives additional standard equipment and other minor updates.

Should I Buy the 2025 Lexus LX?
In all its forms, the Lexus LX offers a curious mix of old- and new-school SUV characteristics. It has the comfort and convenience features you’d expect in a vehicle with its lofty price tag, plus up-to-date technology features and more off-road capability than most buyers will ever use. Its truck-based architecture, however, makes it feel ponderous and top-heavy, even among competitors with similar body-on-frame architecture. It’s also very inefficient in terms of passenger space and cargo room, both of which are disappointingly stingy considering the LX’s plus-sized exterior dimensions. Along the same lines, the LX 700h hybrid’s EPA-estimated fuel economy is only 1 mpg better than the LX 600 in combined city/highway driving. Shoppers who want an extra-posh, modernized version of an old-school, off-road-oriented SUV will find the LX an alluring choice. For others, there are plenty of big luxury SUVs that deliver a more well-rounded experience.
