Expert 2024 Toyota Camry review

our expert's take

What Is the 2024 Toyota Camry?

The Toyota Camry is a five-seat mid-size sedan with a sterling reputation for reliability, value and safety. It’s also great on gas whether it’s equipped with its base 203-horsepower four-cylinder or an optional 208-hp hybrid four-cylinder powertrain. For car shoppers willing to trade some fuel economy for stronger acceleration, there’s also an available 302-hp V-6 that gives the stoic Camry a satisfying jolt of performance. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available with the gas four-cylinder engine. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are a number of active-safety features such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure steering assist, automatic high-beam headlights and adaptive cruise control. Camry competitors include the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata and Kia K5

What’s New on the 2024 Toyota Camry?

A revamped, hybrid-only Camry is coming for the 2025 model year, so the only notable change to the 2024 Camry is that Amazon Alexa capability has been dropped from the infotainment system.

What Features in the 2024 Toyota Camry Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • Eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • 7-inch touchscreen
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Road-sign recognition
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane departure warning with steering assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Available features include:

  • 9-inch touchscreen
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Navigation
  • Head-up instrument display
  • 360-degree camera system

Should I Buy the 2024 Toyota Camry?

The Camry remains a solid, sensible choice for a mainstream mid-size sedan, and it’s at least a bit more dynamic to look at and drive than it once was. Fuel economy with the base four-cylinder and hybrid powertrains is excellent, but the straight-line speed of the V-6 makes it a tempting option. Available AWD is a bonus you won’t find on the rival Honda Accord, but a key caveat is that the Camry’s competition — including the Accord — are newer and feel more modern. Toyota’s rock-solid family car is starting to show its age; its last major redesign was back in 2018.

  • I purchased mine used with 15,000 miles.

I purchased mine used with 15,000 miles. She runs great and I get compliments on her often. Supersonic red with black top. The only reason I purchased this car is because my 2000 Camry is getting hard to find parts for. He still runs great. But, since I do not know when I will need to repair anything expensive on him, I had to get another Camry. For fear of not being able to repair my 2000 Camry (which still looks amazing new). I can vouch that gas powered Toyota's will last forever. Look at all of them on the road. So, I know this one will last forever.

The car comes up short on the interior, the carpet is very cheap and the seats stain easily. I should have gotten a new SE.

  • Got the XSE back in October and I haven’t had a single

Got the XSE back in October and I haven’t had a single issue with it. Inside looks amazing and feels nice and cozy. Outside looks great. I get wonderful gas mileage. Huge sunroof to put down on nice days. Great jbl speaker kit that really can make your bump. Smooth driving can manage anything you would need to from the steering wheel. Great car, probably will drive a camry until they give me a reason not too

  • Positives: Great fuel economy in the hybrid.

Positives: Great fuel economy in the hybrid. Comfortable, smooth ride. Negatives: feels like riding in a coffin- numb, dead feel. Interior is ok, but still very cheap feeling. I pushed though an arm rest yesterday when exiting, too much plastic. Too many lines/busy on the exterior. Not good looking in my opinion.

  • Cools

Love the car, drives smooth and has plenty of power sitting under the pedal. Inside is spacious and seats are very comfortable, everything is easy and intuitive, hopefully it’ll last me!

  • Sub par fit body panel

Toyota brand loyalty is what I am all about, since this company has never let me down. In the past it has done an “out of warranty” coverage for one of my vehicles. This said, this review is more of a nitpicking . Specifically the fit and finish of the rear body panel on my 24 XSE is sub par. At 55mph or above it “shakes”. Noticed this as I was following my wife after picking the car up from the dealership. A Quick Look at the section and noticed only half of the plastic fasteners were installed. And even the ones that supported the lower skirt were quite flimsy. Not what you should get with a $43,000 Camry. Make no mistake. I will still buy Toyotas, but to the powers that be, please heed this feedback

  • Apple Play Only !! Really ?

Camry Over-all is a very nice car , The issue's it has : you have to PAY for a car app to get any benefit out of it. Radio needs work : Pre-setting stations are easy , But without your phone connected to it , it doesn't give you the full function, navigation, it doesn't give an option not to have you phone on view , will not let you adjust a home screen, Control buttons on steering wheel , doesn't give the option to mute or navigate radio like the corolla does. I do not have Apple play. It seems like it only operates of the app. If you don't have Apple Play. You might as well buy a Corolla I think the worst thing about the Camry is the radio & App functions.

  • Handles well

We've only had the car for a month so a lot more to learn about it. It sits pretty low to the ground so it makes it more difficult to get in and out. The motor is a 2.5 L so it has plenty of pep. It handles well on the road and in town equally.

  • Poor mpg

I did hours of research to find a car that would get at least 50mpg. Chose the Hybrid Camry LE. After months of being on the waiting list to get our new vehicle, it finally came in. Very disappointingly the mpg is no where near 51 or 53mpg. Round trip to and from work is 12 miles, gets upper 30's mpg. A couple of loner trips stretched it a little farther. This was my first Toyota and it will be my last. If you're looking for a vehicle with good gas mileage, don't get a Hybrid Camry LE. Wish I had known.
