2023 Toyota Camry review: Our expert's take

What Is the 2023 Toyota Camry?

The 2023 Toyota Camry remains one of the smartest family vehicle purchases you can make today. An enviable reputation for reliability and resale value add to the Camry’s appeal, yet this roomy four-door also delivers good fuel economy with its standard four-cylinder engine or optional hybrid powertrain. Otherwise, you can choose the 302-horsepower V-6 and hold on as it turns the Camry into an under-the-radar speed machine. Standard safety features include blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a rear-seat reminder.

What’s New on the 2023 Toyota Camry?

The basic blueprint of the 2023 Toyota Camry remains. An available Nightshade Special Edition adds a black front grille, black rear spoiler, black side mirrors and 19-inch matte-bronze-finished alloy wheels; the cosmetic package is available on the Camry SE with front- or all-wheel drive, as well as the Camry SE Hybrid.

What Features in the 2023 Toyota Camry Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 7-inch touchscreen multimedia system
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity
  • Amazon Alexa
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Road sign recognition
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane departure warning with steering assist
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic high-beam headlights

Available features include:

  • 9-inch touchscreen
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Blind spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Navigation
  • Head-up instrument display
  • 360-degree camera system

Should I Buy the 2023 Toyota Camry?

The 2023 Camry is a solid pick among mid-size sedans and similarly sized SUVs that can morph into something approaching a luxury-badged vehicle depending on how you equip it. The TRD variant adds the optional V-6 and a sport-tuned suspension, while the upscale XSE comes with heated and ventilated front seats, a head-up instrument display, a 360-degree camera system and leather seating. Yet even in its most basic trim, the Camry is still a lot of car for your money.
