Key Points

  • Pricing for the 2026 Volvo XC90 starts at $62,345 (all prices include $1,295 destination charge).
  • Three trim levels available: Core, Plus and Ultra
  • Plug-in hybrid powertrain available on all three trims

Volvo’s XC90 is a luxurious mid-size SUV with three rows of seats. Three powertrains are available (two gas engines and a plug-in hybrid with 33 miles of electric range), as are three trim levels. Prices range from $62,345 to $84,695. That’s quite a bit of choice, so which 2026 Volvo XC90 is right for you?

Pricing and Release Date

On sale now, both the gas-only and the plug-in hybrid XC90 are available in three trim levels. The B6 powertrain adds $3,700 to $5,100 to the XC90 prices of the gas versions. Full line pricing is as follows:

XC90

  • Core: $62,345
  • Plus: $66,345
  • Ultra: $70,945

XC90 Plug-in Hybrid

  • Core: $77,495
  • Plus: $80,145
  • Ultra: $84,695

Trim Levels

Even the most affordable XC90 is well equipped. The Core trim comes standard with keyless entry and starting, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic moonroof and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Its cabin is upholstered in synthetic leather and features power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for the driver’s seat, heated front and outboard second-row seats, a heated steering wheel and four-zone automatic climate control. Standard tech consists of a 10-speaker audio system, wireless phone charging, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 11.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Core trim is only available with seven seats.

Standard safety technologies on the 2026 XC90 include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering, traffic jam assist, blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert and road-sign recognition. While Volvo doesn’t offer a headline-grabbing hands-free driving system on the XC90, both the gas-powered XC90 and PHEV have earned Top Safety Pick+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the agency’s highest award.

The Plus and Ultra can be had in a six-seat configuration with second-row captain’s chairs for $500. Additional standard equipment on the Plus includes 21-inch wheels, a 360-degree camera system and side parking sensors.

Whereas the Plus trim adds some safety gear, the Ultra is where all the luxury goodies are. The range-topping XC90 gains Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats with adjustable side bolsters and memory settings for the passenger, a head-up display, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and second-row window shades.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

Every 2026 XC90 is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, with add-ons increasing output at each step. The base engine, which Volvo calls B5, is turbocharged and generates 247 horsepower and 266 pounds-feet of torque. The available B6 is turbocharged and supercharged, boosting output to 295 hp and 310 pounds-feet. Add a powerful electric motor to the turbo and supercharger, and you have the plug-in hybrid’s T8 powertrain. It cranks out an impressive total of 455 hp and 523 pounds-feet of torque, sufficient to fling the XC90 from 0-60 mph in a claimed 5 seconds flat. (Volvo says the B5 needs 7.3 seconds to get to 60 and the B6 needs 6.4 seconds.) All three powertrains are available on every trim level and are backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

The B5 returns an EPA-rated 22/27/24 mpg city/highway/combined, while the B6 is rated at 20/26/23 mpg. With 14.7 kilowatt-hours of usable energy in its battery, the XC90 T8 has an electric-only range of up to 33 miles and returns 27 mpg combined once the gas engine turns on.
