M-135i PARALLEL TWIN-TURBO; N54 3 SERIES ENGINE
December 4, 2017
This car was only built for one year (2009). Limited Edition Parallel-Twin-Turbo (332HP with 422 Ft/Lb torque) The M-135 in 09 is a Parallel Twin Turbo which is a 135 with Factory installed M performance. It was just a one year production with 3 series N54 engine/Parallel Twin-Turbo makes this a collector's car. M modified suspension; M brakes, M trim, M Rims; M interior etc. This was only produced for one year and makes this a collector's car now. M-135i Convertible Limited Edition has two separate turbo chargers making it a "True Twin-Turbo." All years after this the turbo chargers were a stacked single Turbo, not a "Parallel TWIN TURBO." As a result the car has a full 332HP with a weight to Horse-power / torque ratio higher than the 2009 3 series vehicles because the car is much lighter than the three series engine and with Parallel Twin Turbos. The following year BMW no longer produced this car and changed the engine and the turbo to scale the HP back bringing it below the 3 series. The ones following the late 09 did not have two actual separate turbos like this one does, but rather a stacked single turbo which they referred to as "To-in-one," rather than a Parallel Twin-Turbo. The turbo chargers in the 09 M135i are not sequential or in series, but rather are in parallel so it's two equally sized turbos making the HP and torque much higher. BMW data sheets in 09 intentionally misrepresented the data specifications of several cars. The provided information has been tested and verified by BMW authorized modification companies, BMW dealer mechanics, and by BMW itself.
BMW intentionally misrepresented the data on their 2009 specification sheets in order to not negatively impact sales of the three series vehicles. The engine was used in the 135 because when the one series was originally produced it did not have a specific engine for that car in 2009 and as a result, the three series engine was used in the one series vehicle for that year only. The horsepower and torque on this car were tested and verified as 332HP with 422 Lb of torque. One independent modification company did an Independent Verification and validation test and in their test it put out 335HP. All the M badging other than the grill are from the factory and the car was in fact only produced for one year in this configuration with that engine and the parallel turbo. All other years have 300HP and this vehicle has 332HP, tested and verified by more than one company. In fact all the information provided above was information given to me by an authorized BMW modification company in California and another in Virginia, verified by a local BMW dealer and by a local BMW authorized mechanic who also professionally modifies BMW vehicles for track racing.
