It's all about the B58 in the M40i. I dinged it one star on comfort because this little SUV rides quite "sporty" even in Comfort mode. I absolutely love this about the car, but I could see how some would feel this is too harsh as it is not a luxurious, cushy ride. But tuck this little beast into a fast corner and it's just...wow! This little German SUV is a sleeper. While the X3M is very nice, the M40i is the perfect balance in my opinion. BMW has really stepped up their game in the X3.

This vehicle has has taken my wife and me cross-country, as well as several other long distance trips, with a sum total of only one flat tire and no other mechanical, nor electrical issues at all! Any repairs have been moderate and frankly expected given the high number of miles (150,000 so far) on it. I expect to keep it for another year and a half.

Husband has wanted a BMW since the 1980’s. Other priorities in life happened, so there you go. Fast forward to August 2020. Time to trade in the tired 2012 Ford Escape. Dealership has a 2014 BMW X3 25i in blue water metallic. Sold! Comfortable, QUICK!, with navigation, parking sensors/backup camera, heated steering wheel, etc. This is a gas sipper considering it takes premium fuel. Not a fan of the brake dust that turns the beautiful front wheels black, but we just keep up with cleaning them. So far so good. Seems to be reliable so far despite the reviews on the exorbitant maintenance costs German cars incur “when they get older”. This will be driven by retired husband about 2-3 times a week, so hopefully it will treat us well on maintenance costs. Bought a one owner, 72,000 miles, regular maintenance performed BMW, and to be honest, it’s not just husband that loves it!😀 Documented)

We drove over an hour to San Jose to look at a BMW. While on Stevens Creek we decided to stop and look at the new Navigators since we were trading a 2018 Navigator. From the moment we drove onto the new lot of Stevens Creek Lincoln, we felt like we made the right stop at the right time. JV met us with such professionalism and non-pressuring approach that we stayed much longer than we expected and ended up buying same day. He accommodated our family of 5 with patience and let me test drive a couple Nav's 4 or 5 times to compare the "feel". I love the car and at the same time I can't help to hate it. What I love about the car would be the luxurious interior, comfortable and quiet cabin, smooth ride, ease of access, and a few extra features that were put in as an add-on. What I don't like about this car would be the poor fuel economy for the 30i model, especially when compared to the B-58 engine. Apple carplay connection issues, no option for remote start unless I want to void warranty, and no option for the iDrive Recorder App. Exterior Styling - 8.5/10 Interior Styling - 9/10 Comfort - 9.5/10 Cargo space - 8.5/10 Driving smoothness - 9.5/10 Horsepower - 7/10 Fuel Economy - 3/10 It's been an overall fun car to get around in. It's easy to get in and out of, smooth on bumpy roads, and it is quiet. The fact that only 2022 models and newer offer remote start and iDrive recorder is a big disappointment. But I think my biggest disappointment would be the fuel economy. As I had the B-58 in the past and averaged out 11.5L/100km and in this X3 am averaging 13.5/100km which was worse than my pick up truck. I might not keep this car for long-term just because of how poor the fuel economy is.
