Group 1 Volkswagen Alamo Heights review
The facility is older and not spotless - it could do with new furniture and a fresh coat of white paint. Doesn't compare with the sparkling, vast multimillion dollar showrooms around town. The product, however, isn't the dealer office - it's the same new vehicle you buy anywhere else. The sales team is stereotypical of the profession - knowledgeable, friendly, but coached to quickly identify and help you overcome any obstacles to making a purchase. As long as you understand the dynamic and come prepared, it's a perfectly normal experience. The reason for the recommendation, and what set this dealer apart, was what matters most to me and I'm sure you as you navigate one of your life's larger purchases - price. I test drove elsewhere, and stopped by in person to get some initial out the door numbers. Here the pressure was highest - numbers about the same as every other dealer about MSRP out the door, implication that those numbers were only possible today. Bring the manager by. What if we can take off a few hundred right now. Playbook, executed predictably but not aggressively. The next week was spent talking to many other dealers in and outside my region. Push them to beat the best offer you have found, until you sense the bottom approaches. It was three days later, but Alamo Heights reached out with a 6k discount (including 1500 VW rebate). It was the lowest out the door price by $1000 at the time, and $600 after two more days. No other dealer wanted to even match. What was the catch? The price was for a car they did not have in stock. They assured me they would find one in a dealer trade, all included in the quoted price. I was hesitant to buy a car sight unseen, and despite Mike as a sales manager assuaging my concerns as best he could, assuring they would make it right if anything was wrong at delivery... there was no language in the paperwork I signed that made it more substantial than being given their word. The car was acquired, and available for pickup, the next business day. No faults in the car, no mileage or paint surprises. They delivered as they said they would, and I am confident that had there been any issues with the vehicle that a repair or replacement would have been made honoring their word. The bottom line here is that this dealer was able to get to a price I couldn't find anywhere else. It took patience, absorbing the sales push, and polite persistence, but what new car deal doesn't? I have read other reviews online that match my experience. It's a process to go through, and there's the usual sales patter and pressure to get through. What makes this dealer worth working with is the number they may not be delivered in the largest showroom, but it may be the smallest number. Thanks to Tim, who is clearly passionate about VW and extremely knowledgeable. Thanks as well to Mike, who may be new to SA but clearly has a lot of experience building confidence in customers faith in his teams ability to deliver as promised. They are outliers in ways that earned my business and appreciation.
2026 Volkswagen Tiguan review
Great 28.3 mileage w 500 mile cruising range on regular gas. Seat comfort, engine performance (no turbo lag), quality, great quiet ride, ventilated massage seats, and tons of upscale standard equipment quickly made us forget our 2022 Audi Q5 Premium Plus Sportback with a 15K savings and even more features. Best buy on a mid sized luxury SUV. Would highly recommend!

2019 Chevrolet Trax review
I've had my Trax for many years now, bought it slightly used with only 30,000 miles on it. Now with 80,000 on that engine and I haven't really had a problem with it. It's decent in the snow, a little slower on the highway as it is slow to accelerate up to speed (not really a huge issue for me). This car can take a beating pretty well and keep going as I had blown tire while on the highway and drove into a ditch. I was able to get the car out of it and park on the side of the road until help arrived.

2024 Kia Telluride review
Have driven just over 20,000 miles so far. No issues. Drive between Clearwater and Gainesville regularly plus a couple other family trips and daily around town. Averages about 27 mpg at 75, quiet and pleasant ride. Trips were nice with good visibility front and back and plenty of room for stuff. Highly recommend.

2023 GMC Sierra 1500 review
I own a 2023 Sierra 1500 Elevation equipped with the 2.7L TurboMax, and it’s been outstanding. It currently has 23,000 flawless miles. I’ll admit, I was skeptical of the 2.7 at first, but I jumped in feet-first and have never looked back. Living in Colorado, I regularly tow a 5,000-pound travel trailer through the Rockies with zero performance issues. The truck pulls confidently, handles grades with ease, and still delivers impressive fuel economy—23–24 mpg on the highway and about 18 mpg in town. I couldn’t be happier with this setup. If there is a negative to mention, that would be that after three years of ownership, the black wheels havent grown on me, and Im beginning to hate em. :) Lastly, the mpg while towing drops to 9mpg which is similar to that of a V8. All said, its been a great truck. :)

2019 Honda Pilot review
OVERVIEW: Found this used 2019 Pilot Touring with AWD, and 8 Passenger seating. It was in great condition. Exterior and interior colors were exactly what we wanted. Purchased it with aobut 74,500 miles on it, newish tires, roof rack rails (great for mounting a backback). Clean carfax. Overall, I'm super glad we got it. We hope we get 200k miles or more out of this Pilot just like we got on the old one The drivetrain is smooth and provides enough power to move us when all 8 seats are used. Lots of comfort and tech features came with this one. DRIVING: Very smooth transmission shifts. No gear hunting issues with the transmission like those reported on the earlier models, especially on the 2016. Feels more luxurious than sport which for us and the family, it's great. Plenty of power for a family hauler. You can use the paddle shifters in Sport mode. 4 AWD drive modes - Normal, Snow, Mud, and Sand. COMFORT: It's super quiet inside compared to the 2011 model. Not as much road or wind noise like our old Pilot. The steering and suspension handles the road nicely, especially on our crappy California pothole-filled roadways. Lots of room. Nice leather seating with ample leg room. Feels a little bigger than our 2011 Pilot. Kids confirmed it feels a little bigger. Front and middle row heated seats are great! Adjustable armrests for front driver and passenger give good support. Plenty of leg room in 2nd row. Small adults and large kids in the 3rd row will be fine. Feels roomier than the 2011. Lots of cup holders. Seats are easy to move and adjust. Single push buttons to move the middle seats forward to get in and out of the 3rd row seats! Easy to flatten them as well to give you room to haul stuff. Rear door sunshades are included in this trim as well. Sunroof with tilt comes with this model, too. Entertainment and Technology: The entertainment system is really nice. 8in touch screen with Apple CarPlay (Android Auto as well) is excellent. Love how GPS displays on the screen while having the ability to have other apps open on the phone. 10 Speakers sound great. The multiple information dashboard can be customized. Looks sleek. The screen is big, bright, colorful and I set mine to show the tripometer information - miles driven, MPG, and range. You have other options - Nav, AWD torque distribution, entertainment info, etc. Outside temp, ECON mode, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keep Assist System, safety systems, and other indicators are on-screen. Rear entertainment system has yet to be tested but it can play Blu-Ray discs and has an HDMI port and AC plug for another input source. Comes with 2 wireless headsets and a remote control as well. So far, we found 4 USB charging ports. There are lighter ports available as well in case you need more power. Can't wait to figure out CabinTalk when we go on a road trip. You can communicate both ways with the rear passengers using the internal mics, speakers, and Rear entertainment headsets. The motorized rear tailgate with hands-free kick motion open and close is nice to have as well. Keyless entry system with auto-unlock and walkaway auto-locking features are included as well. Remote start is also included with the Touring trim. Safety: Bright LED headlights and well-designed daytime running lights. Auto high-beam LED headlights were a nice surprise.The Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane-Keep Assist are freakily awesome. Keep your hands on the wheel though because it's not perfect. The camera and sensors can get confused. But they're good to have for safety and driving assist, especially on long rides on open highways. Blindspot monitoring, rear cross-traffic sensing, and parking sensors are included and help in those situations. I always disable the collision mitigation feature due to potential problems with the system potentially braking at wrong and dangerous times.

2025 GMC Sierra 1500 review
Let me start by saying I have the AT4 model with the Duramax 3.0L diesel. I had a 2024 Elevation with the 5.3L V-8 that I bought to pull my 22’ camper. While the Elevation pulled my camper fine it drank the gas like it was on a binge. And with a 26 gallon gas tank it seemed I was filling up every couple of hours. After one trip to Nova Scotia I knew something had to change. I pulled my camper out west to Yellowstone and back through Arizona. It pulled like a champ and fillups were a lot more manageable. Even driving the speed limit out west I still got four to five mpg better than with the gasser. I liked the Elevation but I love the AT4. Way nicer ride and great handling. I get 30 per gallon of diesel on the highway if I drive the speed limit but I got it to tow with. I added a Titian replacement fuel tank so I have 43 gallons instead of the 26 it came with.

2017 Ford F-250 review
Over the past 30+ years, I have purchased ~8 different 3/4 ton trucks, mostly diesel fords. The 2017 F250 Platinum has not disappointed, no engine issues and tows like a champ. My only complaint would be the seats are small and the comfort is terrible. You don't really notice it until you drive 5 or 6 hours and you have to stop because your butt and legs are killing you. This was not true with older models where driving across country was a breeze. Ford is not alone in downsizing the seating, even the airlines have done it.

The Tesla is faster, more efficient, and more fun to drive and the charging network is second to none. Interior quality and ride are comparable. My dogs love the extra room and Dog Mode in the Tesla. I have no regrets!
