2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport review
The Isuzu Rodeo Sport is the best vehicle I?ve ever owned. So good, in fact, that I bought two of them. Way back in late 2000, I really wanted a Jeep. I was taking regular road trips for work (I?m an efficiency/ business practices consultant) and had the dream of the open road, wind in my hair?straight Route 66 stuff. Sadly, comfort-wise, Jeeps can be a quite a beating on long trips. Go figure. In my search for a replacement, I randomly came across the newly-released Isuzu Rodeo Sport (which was just a newly-named, manned-up Amigo). I immediately loved it. It drove great, handled well, felt solid, and, with the removable sunroof and the folding soft-top, it?s like a Jeep but without the lower back injury. Fast forward to 2005: I drove it to roughly 135,000 miles without any real issues beyond having a transmission overhaul (cost about $900) at around 110,000 miles that I, likely, brought on myself via neglect. I kept up with oil changes every 5K and a few light maintenance things, but that was it. However, while I loved it, life had taught me, at that point, that vehicles tend to implode, if not explode, as they approach 150,000 miles, so I sold it to a family friend who didn?t have my reservations about high-mileage vehicles for a steal of $3500 (I paid $20 K). Fast forward to 2010: I ran into the family friend and asked about the RS. They told me that they had reached nearly 200,000 miles, with only normal upkeep costs, and had sold it to another family member for the same $3500 price (Ugh!). After talking with them, and a few years of driving an Audi and suffering the upkeep/maintenance costs of a ?high-dollar-premium-gas-only? car, I found another RS ? the exact same as my original, just a different exterior color- with shockingly low miles. Fast forward to 2014: I have now driven my second RS to 156,000. I just incurred the only costly repair I?ve had with the new one, a water pump/timing belt switch that ran me $650.

1998 Isuzu Rodeo review
I bought my 1998 Rodeo V6 4WD in 2000, and I STILL have it! Hadn't had a car payment since 2004! I had to replace the alternator in 2014, and again in 2024. Two CV joints went out over the years, costing me a total of $1,600. Windshield wiper motor failed in '17 (parts and labor $450), and the starter went out around the same time, replaced it myself, $150 bucks. And that's about it on unusual maintenance. The above total beats the xxxx out of a car payment, especially these days! I love my Rodeo, and this truck has served me well! AC and fan motor still works, the engine purrs like a kitten. Granted, it has only 171,000 miles on it, which is low mileage for such an old truck, but that's because I've always lived close to my work.

2004 Isuzu Rodeo review
Brought the car brand new. Only had to change wear items. Still have original alternator. After 17 years of ownership, I just changed the timing belt. That was due to age and not due to fault. When I took it out it almost looked brand new. Obviously I was worried about nothing. There are no words how to describe how spectacular this car has been. My Isuzu Axiom is the best.

2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport review
Mine has 108,000 miles has a 2 inch lift I've put over 40,000 of these miles on it in the deserts around Yuma AZ hard miles. Installed an ARB air locker up front. What it doesn't have in articulation it makes up for with front locker and rear posi. Many of my friends have had lots of jeep problems but the Isuzu just keeps on ticking. Well most of the time I'm now looking for the rear anti roll bar, kind of broke it. But considering where its been...

2001 Isuzu VehiCROSS review
Purchased my 2001 Proton Yellow in June of 2022 with 116,000 miles on the odometer. Had liked them for years but couldn't find one close to me. Purchased as a daily driver. Have had it almost a year with no issues at all. A\C and heat will run you out! Backseat is very roomy, although being an acrobat is almost a necessity to get to it. The look is remarkable. Was in love with the thought of a Jeep, until you meet one on the road and they look like every other one. Gas mileage could be better, but I will pay that price to be different. Drives wonderfully. Very capable off road. I the factory Recaro leather seats are great! Just a great quirky, suv. Would suggest to anyone who likes different stand out vehicles.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo review
Mine's going on 22 years old, and still runs like a top. Only issues I have are rust and burning oil - which were risks right from the beginning. I think If users were warned of these issues ahead of time, and given the chance to mitigate them, the Rodeo would have lasted beyond 2004. Of all the vehicles I've owned, the Rodeo have never left me stranded. It tows and hauls like a champ. Tons of torque, and ok mileage. Maintenance I've had to do over the years: Replace timing belt, radiator, water pump, fan clutch, spark plugs, Fuel Filter and fuel pump, and vehicle speed sensor. My plan is to get a 2015 Nissan Xterra after the Rodeo finally dies, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen anytime soon.
