2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Video: Is It Everything We Dreamed?

As you probably know, Chevrolet has dropped the Corvette’s front-engine architecture for the eighth generation of the redesigned car, making the new 2020 model the first mid-engine production Corvette, or the C8 in fandom speak. We had a chance to get inside at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, as well as to spend some time (not enough?) behind the wheel.

Why the mid-engined layout? It’s the holy grail component for performance since it offers ideal weight distribution. And although we haven’t tested the Corvette on a racetrack, we put it — and its 490- or 495-horsepower (depending on equipment options), 6.2-liter V-8 — through its paces on public roads in Southeast Michigan. Was it all we’d hoped and dreamed? Um, duh.
