Here’s Every All-New or Redesigned EV for 2026
What Car Shoppers Need to Know
- Dozens of new and redesigned electric vehicles are arriving for the 2026 and 2027 model years.
- Prices range from just over $30,000 to well over $100,000.
- New models include budget EVs, three-row family haulers and off-roaders.
The end of the federal tax credit in September 2025 has led to a predictable slowdown in EV sales, but automakers expect the market to settle into this new normal and continue growing. Dozens of new and significantly redesigned electric cars and SUVs are going on sale this year, from the affordable Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf to the sporty Porsche Cayenne Electric, the luxurious Cadillac Escalade IQL and the off-road-focused Jeep Recon. We’ve highlighted two of our most anticipated models, the 2027 Rivian R2 and 2027 Chevrolet Bolt, but click through the list below for details on all of the latest arrivals in the EV sphere.
2027 Rivian R2
One of the most anticipated EV launches of 2026 is the 2027 R2, which will go on sale this spring for just under $60,000; more affordable variants will arrive later. Rivian’s long-awaited smaller model looks like a scaled-down R1S but rides on an all-new mid-size platform.
The R2 will eventually have two battery packs to choose from and two available drivetrains: a single-motor rear-wheel-drive version and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive version. Rivian promises the larger battery will be good for a range of 345 miles.
2027 Chevrolet Bolt
Discontinued in 2023, the Bolt sat out for the EV market’s bountiful growth years and returns just in time for the lean period. It now seizes a critical market position as the most affordable EV on sale today. In fact, its base price isn’t much more than some of the cheapest vehicles of any type.
Whereas the previous-generation Bolt was available as a hatchback and a slightly taller, more SUV-ish vehicle Chevrolet called the Bolt EUV, there’s just one Bolt this time around. It’s an updated version of the EUV, but Chevrolet is just calling it the Bolt.

What’s the Difference Between an All-New and Redesigned EV?
When we say, “all-new,” that’s an EV like the all-electric 2026 Rivian R2 that didn’t previously exist; the Subaru Trailseeker and Lucid Gravity are also examples of newly available models. This is different from “new” in terms of “new versus used” ownership.
A redesign is an existing EV that’s been given a thorough update with changes to its interior, exterior and how it drives, like the 2026 Nissan Leaf. There’s another category we left out, including “refreshed” or “face-lifted,” which are EVs that see changes, but the overall usability and place in the market doesn’t change significantly. Examples of these include the 2026 Tesla Model Y and Genesis Electrified GV70.
Why Are There 2027 EVs on This List?
Car models are named by model year, make and model name. It’s possible, and frequent, for a 2027 model-year SUV to be on sale in calendar-year 2026, like the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt that’s been on sale since January 2026.
Which EVs Are the Cheapest?
The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt is the only EV with a base price under $30,000, making it the most affordable electric car as of this writing. The Nissan Leaf may eventually take that crown, but Nissan has postponed the arrival of the entry-level Leaf until at least calendar-year 2027. There are, however, numerous compelling EVs with starting prices under $40,000, including the Chevrolet Equinox EV, Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, which we named the Best Electric Vehicle of the Year two years running. When Do These EVs Go on Sale?
Some SUVs, such as the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9, are on sale right now, while others, like the R2, go on sale later in the year. To find out which SUVs go on sale when, always check the manufacturer’s consumer site because it’s not uncommon for release dates to change from when they’re first announced.
