The worst car buying experience of my life---- by a mile,

The worst car buying experience of my life---- by a mile, and I have bought lots of new cars. Actually, the worst experience buying anything. I did the paperwork to buy a new 2023 BMW 530i from this dealership a couple of weeks prior, had to wait for it to come in, had signed the paperwork, gave them my check. Very nice salesperson. Easy cash sale. After everything was signed and I was ready to go, a nameless "sales manager" came over to tell me that he had decided that I could not drive the car off the lot, would not be able to until my check cleared, that would not be until sometime the following week. I had driven quite a far distance to pick up the car, they had my deposit, my driver's license, my insurance, all my personal information far in advance of my visit to get the car. After the "sales manager" said that I could not leave with the car because of potential "fraud," I could not do business with them. Accuse a customer of fraud because they are paying with a check? A local Bank of America check? I bought a Ford Explorer just a few months earlier from a Ford dealer, same thing, all cash, gave them my check, drove off with my new SUV, never the slightest issue. Same thing with the Mercedes dealer when I bought a new car there with a check. Yikes. I tore up my check and left Silver Spring BMW without the car, never to return. I have never had a business refuse my check. They could have called the bank if they doubted that the money was there. Nope. Had they told me any of this in advance, I would not have signed to buy the car from them. Went to Passport BMW, was treated great there. Bought a new BMW there, almost exactly the same car, even got a better price. A great buying experience at Passport. Thank you Passport, Shame on you Silver Spring BMW.

NM, We apologize for not confirming your preferred method of payment prior to your arrival at our dealership. Had we done this, we likely would have avoided the uncomfortable situation. As explained to you during your visit, since you were planning to pay by personal check, we would need to run y our personal credit prior to your taking delivery of the vehicle. This is for the safety of our clients and the dealership. Unfortunately, identity fraud and fraudulent checks have become very prevalent in this area and prevent us from accepting personal checks without a considerable amount of other verifiable information. We also accept bank certified checks, which was mentioned as well. Even though we were unable to do business together, we are happy to hear that you took delivery of a new BMW and hope that it serves you well moving forward. BMW purchase

I was very impressed with Karen Herbert's attentive efforts in managing the sale of my new car. She seemed very poised as she listened to my needs and concerns and helped to make a long-distance sale comfortable for me. When Ms. Herbert first contacted me, I was considering 6 other dealerships for my BMW 230i. Ms. Herbert was my choice to finalize the sale because she not only seemed to know her cars, she had patience for guiding me through the process. I love that she sent pictures of the car as it started its journey to Texas. I also appreciate her follow up call once I had time to try out the features. Pedro Delgado made the financial part of the sale comfortable for me. He, too, made this long-distance process a positive experience. Thanks!!

Best car buying experience

After checking out at 2 German car dealers (long wait at one dealer and lack of interest in us at the other), we went to Nate and asked about BMW X5. What a game changer! Nate is professional, courteous and most importantly thoroughly knowledgeable. As a result, we decided to go with Nate and BMW immediately. He took time to guide us through options, pricing and color choice. His projection of delivery timeline is precise and right on the spot in the end. In comparison, one month later, I stopped by a dealer close to my place - the sales person gave me wrong information about the same model. This is the best car buying experience and yes, we love this car! Thank you Nate!
