Mazda has redesigned the CX-5 for 2017, and our First Drive found at least 
 five reasons it should be on your compact SUV shopping list.

Registration data shows 280,000 new light-duty diesel vehicles registered 
 in 2016 with a total of 8 million on the road.

The automaker announced the CX-8 will go on sale in Japan later this year, 
 though there are no U.S. plans yet.

A 2017 redesign adds all sorts of goodies, so there's a lot more to like.
