What Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is a popular, capable full-size truck that competes with the likes of the Ram 1500, Ford F-150, Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra. A recent interior revamp brought the Silverado’s cabin much closer to the quality of those offered in its Ram and Ford rivals. Available with a wide range of cabins, cargo, beds and powertrain choices, there’s a Silverado for every type of truck shopper and budget.

Particularly impressive are the Silverado’s smooth ride, excellent infotainment system and extreme capability when it comes to towing, hauling and off-road driving. You can see how the Silverado adapts to kid-toting duty by clicking here.

What’s New on the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

After a fairly thorough update for the 2022 model year, including a revamped and much-improved cabin, the 2023 Silverado receives only minor updates. The optional turbo-diesel inline-six sees its output rise to 305 horsepower and 429 pounds-feet of torque, and there are three new exterior colors: Sterling Gray Metallic, Radiant Red Tintcoat and Harvest Bronze Metallic.

What Features in the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 7-inch touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Push-button start
  • Remote keyless entry
  • 17-inch steel wheels
  • Front bench seat, vinyl upholstery
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Lane departure warning
  • Lane departure steering assist

Available features include:

  • Leather seating
  • 13.4-inch touchscreen
  • Power-operated running boards
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Heated rear seats
  • Underbody skid plates
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wireless device charging
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Surround-view parking camera
  • Two-speed transfer case
  • All-terrain tires, suspension lift

Should I Buy the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

The battle among full-size pickup trucks is perhaps the toughest fight in the U.S. automotive market. The Silverado has loads of capability, even as a no-frills work truck, but most truck shoppers will want to add a few features — and that’s where things can get pricey. Option sheets for full-size trucks like the Silverado include everything from extra-large touchscreens and handy towing aids to go-anywhere gear like lifted suspensions with heavy-duty shocks and all-terrain tires. The biggest problem may not be whether to choose the Silverado, but rather which version of the Silverado to choose.

  • I purchased brand new a 2023.

I purchased brand new a 2023.\ Silverado dermax diesel LT. Initially, I loved it.\n But within the 1st month, the problem started, although extremely frustrating, I tried to give Chevy the benefit of the doubt, multiple infotainment issues. Radio display would go out constantly.\nSometimes the truck would not start. I would take it in, and they said they would do a computer update, and it would be okay for a while. Then the real problem started on the freeway. It just completely died, I panicked, but it started then it's stalled at a light, and everything went dark. The engine would not even turn over. This is happened 3 times\nThe most recent it was in the shop 4 3weeks i was told the transmission was leaking.\n And had to replace oil PAN and something to do with the rear differential. Also, battery was corroded, and some control board. Connected to the battery had to be replaced. Everything was covered under warranty at a cost of about $5000 on top of that, they said they recommend I service, the transmission fluid at a cost of $400. I said, since you have to fix a leak. What are you gonna put the old fluid back in\n Which seemed ridiculous. I ended up paying an additional $800 out-of-pocket. For service seating, the rear differential and cheap transmission fluid. I don't know what's going on with chevy , dealerships but i've dealt with 3 different locations, and all of them are horrible at customer service. I teach at a local college, and I've had a few students who work for Chevy, and they said it's common for them to charge for repairs that were done or to do unnecessary repairs. I'll never buy a Chevy again. I figured this would be the last vehicle. I wouldn't buy I planned on buying a fit. Will motor home so I could retire and travel? I can't wait to get rid of this piece of c*** I hate to say that. Because\n Only the Chevy Silverado was my dream. It's a beautiful truck and the dermax diesel has a lot of power. Unfortunately, looks aren't everything? If the truck isn't reliable. Less than 30000 miles transmission.Oh I forgot to mention they said one of the motor mounts was bad.Are you kidding me

Junk, 2022 zr2, shudder and hesitation with driving, taken back to dealership 4x and they can’t figure it out, my 2018 gmc had the transmission replaced at 60k miles, wish I had never bought it, will trade it off as soon as possible and never buy another gmc/Chevy product

  • Workhorse of a truck

This is my 3rd Silverado and the best one yet. The infotainment features are great. The screen is big and easy to work. Looks great, rides smooth, quiet and is plenty powerful. (5.3 V8) Great every day driver for my family of 4.

  • Do not purchase.

2023 Silverado 1500 High Country. Steering wheel cover came apart within weeks. Now there is a rubbing while turning the wheel. Automatic tailgate has never worked. Car phone speaker has extreme echo which makes conversations near impossible. Entertainment system will continuously cut out for a couple seconds at a time no matter what source is playing. Drives and looks nice but when simple things you take for granted in any other vehicle do not work correctly it makes this truck extremely unpleasant to drive.
