What Is the 2020 GMC Canyon?

The GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck that’s available in extended- or crew-cab form. It comes standard with a 200-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine; a 308-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 and 186-hp, turbo-diesel 2.8-liter four-cylinder are also available. The Canyon is available with rear- or four-wheel drive. Competitors include the Honda Ridgeline, Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma. The Canyon’s Chevrolet sibling is the Colorado.

What’s New on the 2020 GMC Canyon?

A key fob-operated remote-locking tailgate and tire fill alert system are newly available.

What Features in the 2020 GMC Canyon Are Most Important?

Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity make it easy to connect your smartphone and access content. Available 4G LTE connectivity and a Wi-Fi hot spot help you stay connected on the go (data subscription required after initial trial period). There are premium Denali and off-road-focused All Terrain versions, as well, and available features include remote start, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel and wireless device charging.

Should I Buy the 2020 GMC Canyon?

The Canyon’s available V-6 engine is powerful and the truck’s cabin is quiet on the highway, but a number of other aspects of the driving experience disappoint; brake-pedal feel is poor and the ride is stiff. The seats aren’t that comfortable, either. In a recent comparison of four mid-size trucks the Canyon finished last, so it’s definitely worth checking out the competition before making a final purchasing decision.

The 2020 GM Canyon Continues To Have A Rough 1 /2 Shift When Cold . Other Owners Have Complained Of Poor Highway Speed Shifts And Torque Converter Failure At Low Milage . The Band Aid Solution So Far Has Been A Change In Transmission Fluid Type . However This Does Not Remedy A Poorly Designed And Poorly Built Transmission. GM Needs To Do Much Better And Fix The Problem Rather Than Passing The Problem On To Other Customers ✅

  • Think twice

I need a new starter and flex plate after just 22,000 miles. My 3 year warrant did not cover this and it's not covered on the power train warranty. I'm already putting almost $4,000 into a car that's just a little over 3 years old.

Bought this truck for my new work truck. Smaller than my old Silverado but looks like it will be just fine. Gets really good gas mileage with the I4 motor.

  • Great truck!

Very good truck, as you would expect from GMC. Have had it for a little while now, and have had no issues or complaints. Gas mileage is great, especially for a truck with over 300 hp. Comfortable, quiet ride. Love the features and styling the Denali offers. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Very nice truck

Very nice vehicle for my wife and I in our mid seventies it replaced our Buick Enclave which very good. It’s ride is on the firm side - performance is very good - fit and finish very good - over all it’s a very good vehicle that we plan on purchasing with a new one in 2023 with another one because we like it’s size very easy to park and with its bed cover we can carry most anything we like. Thanks

  • Nice midsized pickup

This midsized pickup is perfect for someone who wants to use it for commuting and side projects. I'm very disappointed that it does not have built in Navigation. That seems like small money to include that.

  • Excellent truck, solid value

I decided to get a midsize rather than a full size pick up. I traded in a F250 super duty for the Canyon and am quite pleased with the purchase. The powerstroke from Ford was a disaster and they didn't stand behind it at all, I threw over 14 grand at that motor to keep it running over the seven years I owned it. I've been a Ford man my whole life and this is my first GMC. What a truck...the blue oval can suck it. I live in the Sierra and the Canyon, even in stock configuration has done really well off road though I will be upgrading the suspension as I plan on driving to even more remote locations. The automatic rear locker works great and the ability to put the transmission in low gear and select the gear I want with the touch of a button is really handy on the trail. The front air dam has got to go, as it reduces approach angle to just 17 degrees. The way the rear seat folds down to stow gear is awesome and meets all of my needs for day tripping in the high country. You would be amazed the places I have taken this rig in stock configuration. About the only complaint I have so far is who the xxxx designed the cup holders?

  • Wanted a mid sized stylish pickup

Looked at all mid sized pickups and this was the most stylish and practical for my needs. Test drove all midsized truck and I liked this one the best. The all terrain model had a more comfortable seat as the other Canyon seats were like a board to sit on and very uncomfortable.
