I purchased a certified pre-owned 2019 Honda CR-V from
I purchased a certified pre-owned 2019 Honda CR-V from the Honda dealership in Fairfield, CA, on October 15, 2022. On April 27, 2023, the vehicle broke down due to a major computer failure (ECM/PCM malfunction) and was towed to the Fairfield dealership, where it remained until May 2, 2023. The part was replaced, and the car was returned to me in working condition. However, on June 15, 2024, the exact same issue occurred again. This time, I had the car towed to the Honda dealership in Vallejo, CA, where it sat for approximately 54 days while the part was allegedly on backorder. After researching the California Lemon Law, I contacted Honda Corporate to initiate a buyback, as my vehicle clearly qualifies as a lemon. My case has now been open for nearly a year with no resolution. I continue to receive generic emails stating that my case is "under review," and it is extremely difficult to speak with anyone by phone. When I do get a callback—often several days later—I’m met with the same vague, scripted response. Most recently, on March 31, 2025, my car broke down again with the same recurring issue. It was towed back to the Vallejo dealership, where they cleaned the throttle body, performed some resets, and returned the car to me on April 15, 2025. It’s working—for now. I am beyond frustrated with Honda’s lack of accountability and resolution. I have meticulously maintained my car and have all service records, including documentation of the previous computer-related failures. This situation has had a serious impact on my daily life. I now avoid driving the car unless absolutely necessary, primarily just to and from work. I’ve even missed days at work due to these repeated breakdowns. Long story short: Do not buy a 2019 Honda CR-V. My experience dealing with Honda—from the dealerships to corporate—has been nothing short of a nightmare.

I’ve owned some Honda accords over the years and they’ve been pretty reliable. Seems like those days are gone. Honda is having a ton of issues with the 1.5t engine, just search head gaskets and fuel injectors on google with this engine and you’ll see it’s a problem which makes the crv no longer a reliable vehicle. I had both the head gasket and fuel injectors replaced on my crv. The CPO warranty covered the head gasket but not the fuel injectors because it’s not a part of the power train I guess? Honda Canada would not even help out with the injectors. If I could do it over again I’d avoid a 1.5t Honda vehicle, and probably Honda all together at this point until they get their act together and focus on reliability again.

Bought this CRV AWD Touring new in 2019.
Bought this CRV AWD Touring new in 2019. Have 130,000 miles on it, no problems. Only time it’s at the dealership is for regular service. Gets 33 to 36 MPG . Excellent vehicle!

I can recommend it,
This is my third Honda vehicle so needless to point out that I am a fan of the brand. My 2019 CR-V Touring is a good SUV. Before purchasing it I researched comparable vehicles and in the end my final decision was the CR-V and I am happy with my purchase. We have driven it on vacations of over 2000 miles and not one back ache. The only improvement I can think of would be if it had a tilt steering wheel. Gas mileage varies and I generally get about 33mpg combining city and highway. On trips I got as high as 38mpg. All things considered it is a good vehicle if you need an SUV.

Problems with a Honda 2019 CRV
Battery overheated and exploded while not running. Fuel injectors no good after 60,000 miles. Basically a $2000.00 bill. Dash lights flashing all the time now. Sucks.

Don't buy or rent a Honda CRV
I currently have a 2019 Honda CRV that rides like a roaring truck. It has a lot of road noise and I regret purchasing this car every day. It's currently in the repair shop to have the door actuator replaced. Unfortunately the repair will take 2 days and I rented a 2023 Honda CRV because I was having the repair done at the dealership as part of my extended warranty. It runs almost the same as the 2019. A lot of road noise and it roars but, not in a good way. I will never buy another Honda vehicle ever!

Still learning
We have only had the CRV for about 7 weeks. It seems to be a great vehicle. But we are still learning all of the features and safety accessories. We purchased it used and there was no owners manual so it’s a try and learn. The salesman was great. The dealership not so much. Would buy the CRV again but at a different dealership
